Columbus / RNS head unit restart loop

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm new here, I drive a Superb MK2 from 2015. Estate with almost all options.

I have the much feared issue with the head unit in my Superb where it is stuck in some kind of startup loop.

Skoda logo appears, few minutes later screen goes black and logo appears again.

After some research it seems the possible fix would be to re-install the firmware. I will try to take the unit out and check the numbers on the sticker, from what I read I should be able to see which firmware I need based on these numbers.

Already brought the car to the dealership but not really useful. I told them about the firmware and when I went to take the car back they said 'We can"t update because it already has the highest update, you will have to send the unit to a specialist'.

Now, where can I find the firmware downloads for these units? I've found some links on the web but they are all expired...

Help appreciated!

I beleive you have latest release, called C14. The highest SW is 6276. They can reflash it with the same SW to have it hopefully fixed. If they don't help you drop me PM.

Thanks for your reply!

I asked them to do this but they just told me 'we can't because it already has the highest version'. I have now found the 6276 firmware on some russian site, I downloaded it and branded it. Going to try it out tonight.

Luckily it worked fine and I managed to install the firmware on the unit again. Had a bit of a panick in the beginning because nothing happend, but further research pointed me to one forum topic where they said you should press 'eject', 'star or I button' and 'setup' all at once until the unit reboots into software installation mode. This worked.
