HI,Has anyone worked out a true reading on mileage for the mkV1.My onboard computer says i am getting between40 &53 miles to the gallon , Just wondering if anyone has seriously worked out mileage. Most of my journeys are shortish runs to work and back, 14 miles round trip.Still happy with the car and mileage, wondering other peoples thoughts are.Cheers Andy😃😃😄

Great if you are doing 53 miles from a gallon with short trips, but the weather is nice just now so not really cold start short trips.

Best top it up til you see the petrol and stop at that point and then do 53 miles or so and if it does only need 4.54 litres to see the petrol again.

Or do 100 miles and see how much needed to top up..

Ideally, use the same fuel pump to do the top ups if possible, that way you will know the fuel tank is approx. same level.

Luckily in Ayr good choices, there is Tesco for 99 & Sainsbury for 97 so E5 and flat forecourts and just E10 with them and ASDA / Morrisions for the cheapness.

At the moment the BP opposite the Station Hotel is cheaper than Morrisons though, according to my Granda. :D

It could be for diesel.

Maybe had it's tanks filled more recently and got the fuel cheaper.

Just to add that the unbranded one in Coylton is actually a Thames garage. :)

The cheapest is either Allardyce's in Auchinleck (a Jet garage, 1.689 a litre) or Pace at the back of Cumnock heading for Logan, Lugar, and Muirkirk (1.729 a litre).

Filled up and calculated I'm getting 46.1 mpg out of it, that's nearly all slow urban driving so reasonable. Could probably improve that a bit if I changed gear when the display actually advises me to.

Welcome.

I doubt changing gear as the car indicates would improve fuel efficiency but you could always try and see.

As it has a virtually identical engine to my 1.0 tsi DSG in my Arona, I suspect most people will be getting about

8% better mileage (open road) to 14% (urban) by using E5 premium unleaded (97-99ron) instead of normal E10 95ron unleaded

Where I live premium is 8-12p more per litre, which is about 5-8% extra price, so using premium is a no brainer (pay about 6% extra, gain about 11%)

@SurreyJohn. Do you mean Super Unleaded so E5 rather than E10 95 Ron.?     Sainsbury 97 min or Tesco Momentum 99: can be just 5 pence more expensive than their 95 E10.   Always worth trying different places offerings.

Using Sainsbury's 97 (E5) -- Cambridge to Southampton journey today (mostly motorway) averaged 57.7mpg. Really pleased at only 250mi old. Prior Mk3 (also 1.0 TSI 110) would do ~60mpg on the  Southampton to Huntingdon run (with favourable weather, plus a few 50mph VSLs on the M25 ;)).
