191FSI Brake Pads - spring clip needed on outside?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I bought some pads (Bendix DB1849) that supposedly fit my car.  However, the outer pads are missing the retainer clips that the OEM ones have.  Per pic below.

Are they needed?

Thanks

Looks like wrong pads
I would measure the friction material depth as new ones look slightly smaller

Thanks. I went through my car’s option codes and I have a different brake variant (1LK). Mismatched by the place I bought it from.

Build code 1LK is an ATE front brake system with 345x30mm front discs.

This needs front brake pads matching OEM part number 1K0698151B.

As it's an ATE brake system, I would use ATE brake pads such as ATE 13.0460-7200.2 (sometimes listed as 13046072002)

From your photo, Bendix DB1849 are a slightly different shape, so don't match 1K0698151B.

Yes, you are right. They apparently fit other build codes. I am going to try these, which appear to match and are in stock near me (I have the front wheels off, just changed a rotor): https://www.bendix.com.au/products/db2210

There’s a DBA pad with the same model code that the manufacturer lists as fitting 1LK and looks like a close match.
