Front assist and park pilot failed

Featured Replies

Hi all - after a little help with our new to us kodiaq scout. I’ve only owned the car 8 weeks and all has been fine. Until this morning.

I’m now getting a message saying front assist has been disabled and park pilot is not currently available. As such I’ve no working parking sensors front or back.

Nothing has happened to cause this. It was all working as it should yesterday. I’ve been driving the car today and the issue has remained so not seemingly something that’ll clear itself.

Any ideas what it could be?

I do still have an extended warranty plan on the car so hopefully it’ll be sorted under that but just trying to get a feel for what it could be.

Hi,

I have recently bought a 2017 Superb and was told by the dealer that it needed a cruise control issue dealing with before I could collect. A few weeks in and I have the same messages as you have detailed above and when calling the dealer, they seem to think it's the result of the cruise control issue resufacing.

It could be related.  Might not, but I thought it worth mentioning. Let us know if you find an answer as it could be relevant this end.

Cheers

Will do - annoyingly this issue started for me on holiday so we’re away in France at the minute.

I’ll be booking in with the dealer when I get it back. Will let you know what they find the issue to be.

I'm pretty  certain both park assist and cruise make use of the front radar sensor behind the solid section of the front grille.  It may therefore be worth checking that it's not been damaged or is covered in muck / spiders (I know the one on my Swift is pretty seneitive to the latter).

For those interested my issues were being caused by a faulty towbar module. I had an after market towsure towbar fitted with vehicle specific wiring and the computer upgrade done.

Had been working fine and then seemingly failed. Bizarrely that then causes the car to deactivate all parking sensors as a precaution.

Thankfully all sorted now

Who sorted it for you? The supplying dealer or the original towbar installer?

A bit of both - the dealer ran the diagnostics and identified the towing module was unresponsive. I then had to take it back to the towbar fitters who confirmed the issue and rectified. Thankfully for me they’re 5 minutes away from each other so managed to get it all sorted in the one day.

HI.  Just out of curiosity and something which might relate to another thread,  I see the car is still under warranty and the fault was as a result of a 3rd party add on. Just wondering if your Skoda dealer charged you for running diagnostics?

No they didn’t thankfully - I thought they would have done so very happy.
