I can't see it on here -

Might be worth it.

Thanks for that Stu...............I'll phone my mate and see what he want's....................Andy

It's a pity that it's not used more.

Great idea but just isn't supported well enough.

This is getting more and more common - my car keys come to bed with me now.

B0ll0cks to that, if they want it they'll take it. If it means beating up you and your family then I'm afraid they will.

Let them have it - leave the keys downstairs.

Ummm....no. No-one will take my vRS off me. Some ch@vs tried stealing my neighbours car by getting in with a screwdriver (it was an old fiesta). My dad ran outside (3am) in his boxers (lol) and they fukced off.

Be vigilant and they pay in the end.

I agree... I'd rather leave my keys downstairs, than have some guy standing over me at my bedside!

I'm afraid you cannot always be a hero, as already said, if they want it my friend, they will have it! Your life shouldnt come into the equation!

I have to agree.

Indeed - also much easier to phone the police and get them apprehended if you're not beaten to a pulp. :D At the end of the day, I don't think you have much to worry about with the Fabia ;)

Chris

I think if I ran outside in my boxers most people would run away too!

Joking aside, it is a real shame to hear that someones pride and joy has been taken.

That TWOC site needs to be adopted by the police or insurance companies or something, get some real weight behind it and some decent promotion and it might get used more.

Leave your keys out of sight from your letter box (stops hook and cane) but in a place that they will be found if your front door gets kicked in at 4am ie at the top of the stairs.

These people will not think twice about seriously injuring you and your family to get what they want. It ain't worth it.

Forgot to say - let us know how your pal goes on with his car. Hope he gets it back in one piece.

how would they know you had your keys with you in bed?

a nice hidden safe would be good!

bit risky don't you think for them to come in and ask for keys.DOH!

I keep my keys in my bedroom but my car is blocked in by a Ford Fiesta and a Focus at the bottom of my drive. :D

doesnt matter how safe the hiding place where you keep your keys is,if they want it that badly theyll do anything to get it :thumbdwn:

As they are stood over you, your wife, or your kids with a baseball bat I don't really think you'd be thanking yourself for putting them away safely.

As posted above it's not such an issue with the likes of a Fabia but you look over on Scoobynet and there are threads where guy's have been threatened into handing over their keys.

my sisters boyfriend has a modified impreza, everytime when they are up visiting, they dont park it in the drive, alway ether across the road,or down the road abit so you can still see it looking out the window, but also not to close so if someone trys to nick it,they dont know what house to break into if they want the keys

How thoughtful parking it outside someone you don't like's house ;)

I agree that if they really want it they will get it.

But its still a step up to come and threaten me upstairs. A lot of thieves are just opportunistic - if the keys are downstairs they will drive off in the car - but if not they will get the TV or whatever and scarper.

Going upstairs to wake the owner is a totally different ball game. They don't know what to expect. How many people are there. Whether the upstairs is alarmed, has panic buttons etc. And if they do, I just give them the keys anyway.

it's a totally different ball game to be honest if they come upstairs and threaten you for your keys. I have never heard of this happen ever before. Must be a southern thing:thumbdwn:

Sadly more common than you'd think, especially in the big cities, and most people who break in to get the keys will not leave the house until they get them. :(

My point being, if they broke into my house for the keys to my car, i leave them hanging up!

And the funny thing, bit risky...?????? The whole situation of them braking into your house is risky, so .. threatening you for your keys is minor for them!
