Drifting to the right now!

Featured Replies

OK

Most people now know I have a pair of Toyo Proxes on the front wheelsnow , which are superb, easily beating the pants off the Marshalls on grip, in the dry at least - I've yet to test them in wet conditions...

BUT - (and I've checked the same alloy is on the same side) - it now drifts gently to the right when I let go of the steering wheel, not the left like it did before. Is it possible for there to be a slight difference in rolling radius of two "identical" tyres which could now be pushing my car gently to the right?

Anyway - I'm booked in to Powerstation for Thursday 1.30pm, on my way to Jabba, so I look forward to having a car that runs true and hopefully handles a bit better too (not that it doesn't now though!)

I had a similar problem on friday after having two new uniroyal's fitted. Even though I asked them to be 34psi they did one to 30 and the other to 34! Had the same effect as you are seeing, so take the car to one of those petrol stations with the new automatic air pumps and set the gauge to 34 and see if that makes a difference. ( I know the book says 31 and 33 (R/F) but you always lose a bit as you disconnect). Just dont get any heat into the tyres on the way so drive like your a grandad on a sunday afternoon!!! The car now handles like a dream!

Hmmm - I asked ATS to shove 32 in each of them, but I haven't checked the pressures yet... I'll check them tonight! - Probably the most likely culprit actually!

Directional tyres wrongly fitted?

Just a thought.

Hmmm - good thought, Geoff.

I looked at the tyres when they were off the car, and I was fairly certain they were on fine. I wouldn't expect ATS to make a f*** up like that, but you can never be sure - something to check tonight then. :D

Sad truth is they're no better than Kwik Fit...

Rob.

Actually, its precisely the sort of thing i WOULD expect.

After all, they're tyre & exhaust fitters, not Brain Surgeons ;)

I have my reservations about even calling them mechanincs, i'd love to know how many of them have completed an apprenticeship...

I have! Did someone call? :)

Me too Denis, but neither of us are "Tyre Fitters" ;)

Jason is, however, a qualified "Tyre Shredder" :D :D

Enough already! :D

PS: This qualification can be attained with no course fees, no tutorials, no coursework, no exams... If only my degree could have be attained to easily...

Tyre Shredder, isnt that a character from "Teenage Mutant Ninja Tyre Fitters" ?

I was watching that on my Hotel room's TV at the weekend. Quite weird how something I used to watch as a young teenager (and prior) has suddenly come back. I think it also wins "easiest theme to sing to" - "teenage mutant ninja turtles" - repeat about ten times with slightly different tones, then "heroes in a half shell, TURTLE POWER!" - Jesus H, I've just re-read that and it seems SOOOOO sad! :D - but I was a fan in my formative years!

Anyway - as the threat of a topic change is imminent (ok, it's happened!) back to the topic theme, eh?
