Upgraded infotainment for a 2015 Skoda Octavia

Featured Replies

Hi all!

I’m picking up my Skoda next week, and I cant wait to start driving.

one thing I would like to change though is the infotainment system. It’s quite small and I would love to have apple Carplay built in.

I’ve been researching for a bit and apparently it’s not that easy to upgrade the whole unit. It has the mib1 fitted for the moment with the smaller 5” screen, and upgrading the whole unit to a mib2 isn’t quite as straightforward as I would have hoped.

i was looking online and saw this:

Should this work and if so, Is this just a straight swap with the current screen or is there more to it? I don’t mind losing built in things like built in nav and stuff since I never use those anyway. I would do everything with my phone like spotify and waze and online radio.

or is there a better option available?

thanks in advance.

Hi,

Looks to me like its a swap for just the display so the MIB1 unit in the glove box wouldn't be required any longer, but there are more knowledgeable people on this forum than me.

Also looks like you'd have to find a place to put the GPS antenna, not sure if that would fit in the space behind the display and have decent reception?

I did fid the install manual for the Pioneer unit here:

https://catalogs.pioneer-car.eu/Manuals/AVIC_EVO1_OC2_MTB_CRD5000_installation_manual/?page=1

Hope that helps a bit until someone who knows more can answer!
