sos & triangle warning on dashboard

Featured Replies

Hi

I've just bought a nearly new Karoq

I'm seeing warning signals on the dashboard for SOS(yellow & Triangle(orange)

I've updated the software but they are both still there

Any ideas please - im about to tour around Scotland  - should I be concerned about the lights

i can't book into Skoda until I come back off holiday

Cheers

Philip

Only a dealer can update the car's main software, all we can do as drivers is to let the car update its maps and 'shop' function software.

How old is your car? If it's got the SOS button on the roof above the interior mirror, is the led strip next to it green? (In my car it can be either green, red or off. (Green is OK, Red is faulty, and off shows it can't find a mobile signal.) There have been instances where the SOS fault system fails intermittently, with it working again when the car is next used. In my case, I was able to reset it by holding the power switch for the infotainment system down for 10 seconds, forcing it to reboot. But the permanent cure was to have the car's main software updated by my dealer from 0270 to 0276. (Later cars have higher version numbers for the software, and shouldn't experience the fault.)

Dealers should treat this as a known fault and update the software for you, but it's a lengthy job so they don't want to do it unless the fault has occured.

On mine it was a dealer software update that cured it completely. It's a common problem i had it on mine for months till I took it in !

When I took mine in for its service, I told them about the TPI for the software update from 0270 (which mine is) and they said they didn't know about it. Only when I went back several weeks later to tell them about no software or Nav updates (apart from "shop" update!) and that the SOS warning and loss of user profile did they admit there is an update, and I was the third person that day to report the SOS problem. Car is now booked in early October, and they stated it will be an all-day job.

I'm on the 276 software and it still happens. It's quite dangerous because the side effects are not immediately obvious, but it seems to also disconnect phones from the Skoda data plan. It's a shame the SOS cannot be disabled.

I took my Karoq in yesterday and they started the update today

They said it won't be finished till Monday as its a big update

Il let you know if it clears the SOS icon & message

So what it means is that there system is rubbish and they can not complete updates without interruptions and it crashing.

Imagine a big main dealership that might have 5 cars a week to do but there are not enough days in a working week.  That would be Skoda Main Dealerships in the UK.

i checked today when I picked up the karoq- there were no crashes or interuptions

Its a big update and individual components had to be processed sequentially  eg one component took 4 hours

They said this should fix the problem but I'll wait and see

As a bonus they washed and valeted the car which it need after driving round Scotland for 10 days
