Help with iV charging timer for off peak charging

Featured Replies

Hi guys

can anyone help me with the off peak timing for Charing the car off the 3pin plug?  Everytime I stop the car and plug it in it just starts charging, the little timer on the front charging port is lit orange and the power light is green, the dash also shows a green plug and the time to finish charging.  When I go to the app ot says it’s charging.  I then have to stop the charge.

also have trouble with the app, it keeps deleting all the charging schedules.  The car seems to keep its charging schedule but I never set that in the car, I created it on the app!  Confused!!!

I use the 3pin charger because I have an iPace plugged into the smart wall charger on Ocotpus Intelligent, so I get 6hrs at 5p off peak.

many thanks

I think I found one of the issues, I had minimum charge set to 50% which may be why it was always trying to charge immediately.

On the screen in the car where you set the departure timer, do you have the off peak hours set and enabled, and the departure timer itself enabled?

The minimum charge will certainly be a part of the issue.  If you don't need that feature then set it to 0%.

I don't use the app as I wasn't getting any use from it. All my settings are entered in the car.

Assuming it's the same as VW: There should be 2 buttons by the socket on the car. One for immediate charge (regardless of minimum level), which I use for when I need a quick juice mid day. Then the timer button for the times set in the car. You need to set the off peak charge time. Mine is 0030 to 0800. This covers the bulk of the charging on cheap then a bit of mains for preheat/cool. Then set the departure time so the car knows when to precondition the car for. Then you need to make sure the car can take precondition energy from either battery or mains depending on your preference. Also make sure the preconditioning is set up right as it's a separate sub menu.

That should be everything.

One thing to note is the granny cable isn't powerful enough to effectively precondition the car and charge at the same time.

Really helpful post thank you, will give this a try. I’d been using my wall charger up until now but need the 7.4kw charge for the iPace.

I'm on octopus go. So the cheapness stops at 0430. I set the off-peak in the car to finish after my departure time as I don't trust the car not to use up battery when preconditioning. It's a minimal amount and the actual charging of the battery is easily completed within the actual cheap timeframe.
