DSG strange behaviour?

Featured Replies

I am new to the forum and I have recently purchased a 2018 Superb 2.0 TDI Sportsline. I was travelling on the motorway today at 65 ish and noticed that the car was in fifth gear and not six. I changed gear manually into 6th, but when moving the gear selector back to auto the car geared back down to 5th. If I stayed in manual mode the car held the 6th gear. Moving back into auto and after accelerating, to take the car to 70 ish,  the car auto changed to 6th, only to change down again to 5th when reducing speed to 65. Anyone any idea why this is happening. Thanks.

You've posted in the Octavia III forum, it might be better to ask fellow Superb owners in the Superb III forum here

On a general DSG note, what mode do you have the gearbox in D, E or S ?

@AWOL66

Welcome. A mod can move your post. I flagged it.

?

How many miles has your car done, and as above from @PetrolDave was the shifter in D?

PS

Should this car not have a 7 speed wet clutch DSG?.

Sorry no idea when they went 7 speed.

What is the VIN?

Sorry no idea when they went 7 speed.

Could have been one of the last 6 speeds?

Also wondering about the mileage and whether it was over due a box service.

My money is in an accidental S mode. It's easy to push the stick back from D if not familiar with a DSG.

We've heard of this on the forum before on a Superb mk2 DSG

Thanks guys, sorry for posting in the wrong place.
Car has done 32,000 and it was in D

When did the car last have a major service, this might be an emissions related item.  Being a TDI could have high ash in the DPF and trying to keep temperature up to help burn it off.

Just a hunch as a 4 year old car which has only done 8k miles per year, and has possibly been doing fairly short runs might be not fully soot and ash free.

Service history attached. Might need a few more blasts down the motorway?

As per @MarkyG82.. probably was knocked into sport. At 'D' a pull down will put it into sport mode.
