Anyone fitted 235/35/20 tyres to a MK4 Octavia VRS?

Hi guys, got some Koya Semi Forged wheels getting made over the next couple of weeks. Going 20”x8.5 ET45. Anyone running 235/35/20 tyres on their Mk4 Octy’s yet? Thought this was a safer bet than 245/35/20. I wanted a thicker sidewall instead of going the usual 235/30/20.

235/30R20 isn't the usual tyre size on an Octavia MK4. The outside diameter is too small, and so is the load index.

Outside diameter

225/45R18 659.7mm

225/40R19 662.6mm

235/30R20 649mm

The XL load index of a 235/30R20 tyre size is 88 (560kg) which is lower than all of the Skoda approved tyre sizes.

I should have stated 245/30/20. I am not interested in going 235/30/20 which is why I was asking about 235/35/20 tyres and if anyone has fitted them. The load rating of the tyre I am looking to fit is 92Y which exceeds the original 89W so no issues with outside diameter or load index…

ETRTO approved rim widths

235/35 8.0-8.5-9.5
245/35 8.0-8.5-9.5

The 8.5" rim width is ideal for both the 235/35R20 and 245/35R20 tyre sizes, as shown in the chart above.

245/35R20 is a more common and cheaper tyre size than 235/35R20.

Uniroyal RainSport 5 245/35R20 95Y XL (about 190 Australian Dollars each)

Thanks for the info but I have researched all that info previously. I know that the 235 or 245 tyre can fit on the 8.5” rim, that’s easily found on any tyre / rim compatibility table. I’ve also picked out the tyre I want (Falken Azenis FK510 - $235 AUD each). I just wanted to know if anyone had fitted this tyre to a Mk4 VRS to ensure I don’t hit the front guards etc on full lock.

I think I’ll be fine I’ve seen mk4s run 20” x 8.5 ET45 wheels on the Concaver wheels website and the tyre isn’t hugely different from the stock diameter.

I’ll let everyone know in 2-3 weeks when I get the wheels and tyres on.

Ok guys I can confirm that 20x8.5 ET45 wheels fit perfectly fine with 235/35/20 tyres on a Mk4 Octavia VRS Estate. No rubbing on full lock and ride quality is the same. Pics below.
