Fabia - Maxidot

Featured Replies

Little update, price etc is about as per Lummox' post. VIN supplied so they can check if it can be fitted (by them). Response time is not too great but I'm in no rush ;)

Final update I suppose -

Two major problems with this:

1. The coding is apparently pretty tricky and they had not done it before

2. If the coding goes wrong the pod can fail to work and you would have to pay for it (i.e. customer pays if part goes wrong during fitting).

The first issue could be worked around by perhaps finding a different dealership and/or someone who has coded this thing before, the second issue however would really have the potential to kill the project based on cost.

It's not exactly a cheap part, and the labour would be on top of course. As a one-off I'd consider it but as there is a fairly high risk of failure + massive additional cost if that were to happen, I'd avoid it.

Shame really as I would have loved a maxidot display, even at (un)reasonably high cost :(
