Speed Camera POI in 2022 Kodiaq

Featured Replies

Hi all

Received last week our new Kodiaq L&K to replace our 3.5 year old one. Been working through the subtle differences, particularly on the infotainment side.

One thing I still can’t work out is how to upload POIs (I’m all good on creating the files etc), with the removal of the SD card route. I’ve tried a USB stick but it’s not auto detecting and I also can’t even find the option anymore within the Nav system!

Can anyone help please, as even Google is failing at the moment!

Thanks

If it is anything like my 2020 MIB3 system, you cannot upload anything to it, well I have not found a way to do it.

Not been able to update the maps or add radio logos, just had to rely on the over the air updates to the maps and live with some radio stations not having any logo.

POI upload was completely removed from the new infotainment system, and nobody has figured out a way to get that functionality back yet - there's a very good chance it will never be possible. If you want to keep up with developments, the Google search you'll need is 'MIB3 POI'

I've commented several times what the problem is and the solution. If you're not able to update maps then as long as you're following the instructions it's almost certain your dealer has to run a software update. It's a known problem with early MIB3 systems, the frustrating thing being that Skoda haven't informed their customers. I've had the update done, can now update maps. ( A few other idosyncrasies have disappeared too ).

Don't know about POI tho, never had the need to use that function. I'd have assumed 2022 MB3 systems already have the system update applied but that's only a guess.

This is terrible news . Along with the loss of side assist, this just keeps adding to what Skoda are removing.

my only hope now is that Android auto works wirelessly and depend on waze camera alerts.

If it is the same way as updating the maps, one needs a USB.A-- USB.C Adapter (USB C to USB Adapter(2 Pack), Syntech USB-C Male to USB 3.0 Female Adapter )
then you need a USB.a card reader that you load a 64Gb SD card with the updated maps etc plug in and upload,so I believe!

What's wrong with Google maps? You never have to worry about uploading/being out of date.

I continue with my stick on Garmin device in addition to car satnav.

More functionality and more user friendly.

Loaded on home pc with many Routes and Waypoints (POIs) of my choosing.

I do play with car car satnav, adding a few destinations of interest as needed and watching the street map on the VC as required.

So far from what I gather, Skoda has removed all the hardware for SD cards in the new gen (> MY21) kodiaqs. But does it provide the Retrieve "My POIs" (online) option?. Found in the Manage Memory of the Navigation settings?

If yes, question is where can you upload your POI files. I found the below text in a 2019 Fabia Manual. But dont see this option in the Skoda Connect.

Retrieve "My POIs" (online)- Online import/update of your own POI categories
created in the user profile on the ŠKODA Connect Portal website

Pretty sure the answer is no. And there's nowhere to create/manage POIs on the Skoda Connect website either for me. I think custom POIs are a thing of the past as far as Skoda are concerned.

What a shame. The only thing left to try i guess now is to put the poi files on a usb and follow the instructions as attached to update the navigation as a whole.
