Superb MkII LED upgrade advice

Featured Replies

Hi folks. I'm thinking about switching to led H7 bulbs in my 2012 superb. Currently using halogen bulbs (some decent Philips ones that still feel lacking in power), and I've been looking at the Phillips Ultinon pro9000.

My question is do I need to purchase little adaptor clips (like these https://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/h7-led-bulb-holder-for-specific-vw-and-skoda-models.html ) or will the bulbs just plug in as normal?

Anyone tried these bulbs with any success or issues?

Cheers everyone!

I heard it can get very hot in the headlamp with headlights in LED and could lead to problems. I will let experienced people respond. Maybe stick with 30%+ brighter Halogens?

plus the light pattern for some of these LED bulbs make them bad for road users.

Don't get LEDs: the lamp is not designed to work with them and the beam pattern will be wrong. Put in some decent halogen bulbs and make sure the headlights are properly aimed.

More trouble than it's worth fitting LED's to a Superb IMO you'll just keep getting error messages that the bulbs have blown even when the bulbs are supposed to be CAN  BUS compatible.

The LEDs are sold as CAN BUS proof these days, but you may have a problem with the beam pattern.

I am not sure I would want to pay way over £100 for 2 bulbs though. The Philips would come with any adapter necessary.
