Wheel nut lockers

Featured Replies

Hi,

Would apprciate links to wheel locking nuts for the VRS, something that will not rin the design but yet is safe and fits the model, international shipping required, unfortunately was not an option upon buying the car 😞

Thanks :)

Has your car not got them fitted as standard in Israel ?  1 on each wheel under the plastic wheel bolt cover.

sorry, I mean security bolts so my wheels won't get stolen, the black plastic covers I got (and also the tool)

Pull all the black plastic covers off on one wheel, you should find 4 'normal' bolts and one security bolt - unless Skoda Israel decided to delete that important item.

Spelling correction

On close inspection the locking nut cover will have a larger raised diameter tucked down in the wheel bolt hole counterbore.

I can never see which is which unless I kneel down with my face level with the axle.

Hi,

So i checked out 2 wheels, am I missing anything?

I also don't have a "special" tool in case there is a security bolt.

Before asking @ the dealership that supplied the car where the security bolts are you had best check there is not one of the other wheels with 4 of them fitted.

I've checked all 4 wheels, nothing.

But hey, this isn't that kind of thread, i was wondering where i can buy them :)

I was joking with some friends years ago about those wheel safety bolts: "If someone is interested in steeling your wheels, be sure that he'll have the necessary keys to remove the anti-theft bolts".

So why bother?

That's the difference between a random passer by to an "expert", I live in a place that don't have much car/wheel theft, + a really out-of-sight private parking + the entrance to my neighborhood is secured by a guard (when he's not sleeping).

What worries me is a random parking spot, where there won't be an expert stealing it, that will make it harder to steal.

Skoda Locking Wheel Bolts

In Slovenia we also don't get security bolts. At least I didn't get them. @Ajdolin @MaximusMeridius @AudreySI what about you?

I've never had any fitted to any Skoda's I've owned since 2004. They're a pain in the nuts tbh.

Agreed.

Agreed, but coming back to your car to find it standing on a pile of bricks or wood is even more of a pain.

I don't have them locking wheel nuts either and I'm in Ireland.

My problem is the plastic nut covers keep falling off!

@Hairy_Joethat will be because the wrong size is fitted then.

Hasn't happened in 31 years of car ownership I'll take my chances 😏

Nah, they do have a habit of falling off. I was missing three of them when changing to winter tires this week.

At least you know now the tightness of your wheel bolts having changed the wheel,s.

Millions of the things fitted to VW Group wheel bolts for years now.

20 per vehicle.

Common user error is someone forces the smaller covers on the  locking nut and the big cover on the standard nut, or just do not put them right on.

Small issue though.

Just a crappy bit of plastic.

More important is that the car car gets the bolts tightness checked after the PDI incase they were not checked at it.

Ya, one car is 5 weeks old and one gone, two about to fall off. The other is 10 months old and 4 gone and 5 about to fall off.....
