Cracked windscreen

Featured Replies

A poxy stone got thrown up by a car that overtook me and left me with a cracked windscreen :(

Does anyone know what the part number is, so I can get the insurance company on the job of replacing it? It is for a Octavia vRS, first registered September 2001.

Shouldn't need the part number.....windscreen replacement company should know...they'll probably ask you which colour tint though...green or grey...I think it's grey...well that's what I had fitted in February.:o

Hmm, may need to pop out and double check that :)

I know the sunstrip is green, but the rest... no idea.

If you're insured fully comp then your windscreen excess might only be about 50 or 60 pounds.

I'm with Direct Line and my cover gives me free chip repairs, and a 60 pound excess on a replacement windscreen.

Mine is a 2004 Octy MkI Elegance and has a green screen with grey tint.

At the time I got Autoglass to replace it, they said that the only screen used on my car could have been green with grey tint or green with green tint.

If you called autoglass then they would be able to tell you what screens you might have installed.

Just received a call from National Glass who are going to fix it either this afternoon or tomorrow (depending on what time they can meet). £60 excess (insured with Chris Knott) and apart from asking about rain sensors, he only confirmed it had a sunstrip. Will find out when they arrive I suppose.

Must be time to change the car then Q :P :D

Too late, the man he fixeth ;)

FWIW, he had a gray(grey?) tinted windscreen, which considering my octy is black, was fine with me. At least I don't have to scrape all the bugs off it now ;)
