@AK-S6 When you get in the car and out of the car do you have the Red Light on and the e-Brake engaged, and then when starting and driving off the e-brake releasing but the or Autohold button lit with Yellow?

When you stop with the engine running or stop / start stopping the car do you ever use the e-Brake?

I don't have the car now, it is with the dealer. I can only try that when I collect it, but at that point I assume any issues with AutoHold should be fixed.

I actually spotted this AutoHold problem when I reversed into a parking bay at the dealership - I wanted to turn AutoHold off for a smoother maneuvering, as I could feel that with "AutoHold - ON" the car lurched when pressing the accelerator pedal.

That's when I realized it is always on and raised the question with the dealer.

OK, I'll try that... What would that confirm though ? I assume the Auto Hold button light would be still on, right ? it is just dashboard wouldn't have the green (P) light when brakes pedal is pressed in neutral ?

On a DSG auto hold is automatically de-activated when you put it into neutral, and should come back on when moved out of neutral. This catches some people out as when you release the foot brake the car will freely roll if still in 'N' when they think auto hold is still active. Just through it was worth trying if/when you get to see the car again. It does work a little differently with DSG compared to a manual.

I have a 2016 Superb 3 with DSG. Yes I can turn auto hold on and off. In the first couple of years of ownership I did turn the auto hold off a few times. I don’t think I have ever done it in the past 4 years or so.

When manoeuvring or in fact just moving off gently, the trick is to momentarily dab the throttle slightly first. This releases the auto hold and the car will start to creep. Then if necessary, press the throttle a bit again.
If you just press and hold the throttle from the outset, it will always lurch.

So my point is that eventually you will never want to deactivate the auto hold.

That said, I totally get that you want the car to work as it should. I’m just saying that, setting that feeling aside, in a couple of years it won’t matter  whether it works correctly or not.

Thanks guys, really appreciate your replies !

Let's see how quickly they fix it.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year !

Just thinking about it, I’m fairly sure that the button won’t always work, as a safety feature. If autohold is actually operating, ie the car is being held by the autohold, pressing the autohold button won’t suddenly release the brake and make the car move. For the button to work I think you have to be pressing the brake pedal, or in P, or with parking brake on etc.

DSG owner here. Mine definitely can't be deactivated in certain circumstances, I think as nicknorman mentioned?

thanks all, this has been sorted out. Don't have much details what was done, but I was told there was no physical fault with AutoHold system and the fix was applied through "programming". I don't know weather it was full SW upgrade or just AutoHold subsystem tweak. The button now works as expected.
