Windscreen Wash

Featured Replies

I have recently blown a fuse on my Skoda by trying to operate the windscreen washers whilst the contents - and the pump no doubt - were frozen up. Lesson learned - that has been sorted out now and I wondered if anyone has a suggestion for a good quality screen wash - with antifreeze protection - that I can use? There are so many online. The garage lady said I should ideally get one that protects down to -10℃ and if it looks to be getting close to that temperature then dilute slightly less. Thanks, R-

I’ve used Prestone screen wash concentrate from Costco for years.

Thanks Kenny, that does seem to come highly rated. It seems our local Screwfix sell it. R-

I’ve been using Unipart ‘All Season’ screenwash concentrate at a 50:50 mix successfully for several years now. It does seem to be more difficult to track down though these days.

Halfords concentrate isn’t too bad either at the same dilution although it is a few quid more when bought in the same quantity. (5L)

But out of stock 😞

Demon freeze for me from asda or b&m pretty good stuff

Tesco or other -10*oC might still be liquid in the washer bottle. No guarantee it comes out the nozzles though,

or -15*oC stuff, or -23*oC or even -70*oC.

But then if you spray on a cold windscreen of -10*C or lower it is going to freeze anyway.

Thanks @toot- for some reason I imagined that the antifreeze would also deal with ice on the screen. Obviously not. R-

No as george says ,demon freeze is good for -20 but still freezes to the screen at -3or 4  liquid out of the nozzle ice on the screen 🤬
