Bailey or Forge DV?

Featured Replies

I know this is covered in the 'what mods are worth doing' but i had a few more questions....

From the reviews section it says for the Forge version:

"It does require maintenance from time to time, the main input being to re-grease the seals with high temperature grease. Internal spares are available from Forge, as well as alternative springs to tune the valve's behaviour. The top of the valve screws off to allow access to the internals."

Theres no mention of this for the Bailey version other than that it can't be dismantled for maintenance.

Does this mean that doesn't need any like the Forge version or would you need to send it away to have done professionally?

Also just wondered about noise?

Is one noticeably noisier than the other?

Finally, whats a CAI?

CAI = cold air induction...basically an induction kit which replaces the standard airbox.

IIRC the Bailey has been designed to be a non-maintenance DV although I guess you could do it if required as there are some allen bolts on top (don't know whether this would give you access to the relevant bits though).

Both produce more "pstsh" that standard but to get the full affect you'll need to add a CAI or modify the standard airbox.

Think i'll go for the Bailey one then.

Can anyone reccomend a good supplier?

I should have guessed!

I ran a BMC carbon-fibre cold air kit on my Bravo HGT.

Made some very nice gains about 3,000rpm.

Again reading the performance section most of you seem to have gone for mesh filters. I wondered if any of you have gone for foam ones?

I've always preffered the noise of a foam filter and they supposedly have better filtration?

Was looking at a Pipercross Viper.

Has anyone tried or have opinions on one of these?

Both DVs in local market cost near to 200Euro....

So we organised one Group-Bye for DVs and we bougth them from Sweden (Dahlback Racing) in good prices.

Total cost per DV 100Euro (including Tax and shipping) and the DVs are at least equal to performance - quality thn Forge's, etc.

Go to his site in the special link and see...

According to this site, the Bailey DV30 can be rebuilt/serviced. The cost for doing this is

Bailey will need servicing.. It has moving parts and seals just like Forge.

I have the Bailey on the MKIV and it stuck. Took it apart and it was kak'd up with stuff... like they all do. Cleaned and relubed and it worked again. It was very worn on the top ally cover tho, very ribbed and grooved from o-ring wear.

My Forge DV006P on the other hand, with more miles on it (Ibiza) runs as it did from day one, and I have serviced it once. (clean/relube)

when working they both drove the same.

The top is held on with small Allen screws - they are clearly visible in Denis's picture above.
