Tag or sensor in boot

Featured Replies

Anyone have any idea what this is or what it is for? It it sticking out of a slot by the boot lip.

Sort of foil tag on the end of a wire....bit like the RFiD tags you see in shops. There is another one on the other side of the boot catch. I've just stuffed it back into the slot for now....

They are GPS tracker beacons to bring in a missile strike!

Do you have parking sensors or the boot unlocking system where you wave your foot around?

Ah that will be why there are cars full of people in dark sunglasses following me!

Yes, have both....but not sure what they'd sensing from inside the boot. The silver tags don't appear to be / have been stuck to anything other than to the wire

So what it is - its a piece of fabric that has 2 pieces of non contacting wire embedded in them, and on the end will be 2 metalic pads.

Whats it for - they are ran in areas that water may pool in the car, under carpets, in the boot, near lights and openings, in the factory the car is soaked with water, if water leaks into the car they test these points for continuity, if they have continuity it means they are wet and a leak is discovered.

They are only used when the car is built.
