Service schedule 1.5tsi

Featured Replies

Hey all,

So, I’ve had my mk iv estate for just over a year now and expecting that a service is due - as are the dealer as have had a reminder however when checking the infotainment system the car still state another year or 18700 mile until a service is required

The car is low mileage, only circa 5k as now working from home, so now the car is more of a run around, which isn’t great with lot of short cold engine journeys.

Doesn’t seem right to me, I know some car are set to a ‘variable service schedule’ and could push the service out to 2 years but surely the car should reign in the service schedule if doing lot of short around town journeys?

Thought? What’s the service schedule?

IIRC, they come with the variable service interval which assumes something like 10+k miles are - so 2 years or 20k miles. The alternative is an annual service which given your situation is what I would choose. The dealer can set the car to fixed interval so the reminders in car make more sense.

Hi Lee, with your low annual mileage, your car should really be on fixed annual servicing - they usually leave the factory set for variable servicing - but you should have been asked if you wanted it changed to fixed at the handover. SFAIK the system will not change servicing regime according to actual mileage travelled.

I bought my 21 plate1.5tsi in Sept 2022 with only 7000 miles on the clock. Car told me it needed a service in December 22 with 11000 miles on the clock.

I'm approaching 20000 miles now and the car is telling me it needs a service in 1100 miles. This seems a bit excessive! I'm doing quite a few miles (maybe 16000 a year based on current rate, mainly A roads and motorways). I'm thinking I need to switch to variable servicing as at the current rate I'll be having 2 services a year.

Thoughts? I checked the oil this morning and it was halfway down the hatched area on the dipstick so I've put in 0.5 a litre. Thinking I'll get this service at 20,000 miles and ask about being put onto variable.

Sounds like your car is set to fixed services, at 10k miles.

11k miles at last service, now 20k, has started counting down approaching 10k miles from previous service.

Would get a full service done and ask them to change to variable.   Check before you drive it away (on infotainment go into car, then settings, scroll to service and check the readings).
