Must have a bigger tank than mine. One time when I refuelled, I was running on zero miles for the last few miles on the way to the fuel station and still only got 64 litres in. The tank is supposed to be 66.

The tank is unlikely to be a different size but the difference is more likely due to your fuel level sensor being much more conservatively set and indicating zero miles with more fuel remaining in your tank than his.

There were a number of complaints in the Octavia mk3 section a few years back where diesel drivers were refilling at low mileage indicators and only being able to get 40 or so litres into their 50 litre tanks. Obviously their tanks would have been the same size but a batch must have been produced with the fuel level incorrectly set.

The fuel tanks ARE officially five litres larger on the 4wd versions than 2wd versions on both diesel and petrol models of Octavia and Superb, probably to compensate for the extra weight and friction from the 4wd drivetrain.

By my calculations for distance and refuel quantity you actually got 64.49 mpg, which means your display is pretty accurate, possibly pessimistic, even after allowing for minor differences refuel 'click' point, and of course accuracy of the refueling point pump.

Really good driving discipline over that sort of distance.

Not much discipline involved on my part other than to engage the ACC which I use extensively, most of my driving is of a reasonable distance so once up to speed it sits there cruising along.

As the fuel pump reading shows it took 70+ litres I think the tank could be bigger then Skoda state, my owners handbook says 'about 66 litres' - obviously it has taken 70 litres so the 66 is on the conservative side.

Similar with the Adblue tank, the owners manual says it will take about 13 litres to refill, my display says I still have over 1000 miles left and it says to add 15.25 litres max when I fill it, that will be later this week so we'll see how much it takes.

Further to my above post I refilled the Adblue tank when I had a range of 650 miles left. The car display showed it could take 15.5 litres but not wanting to risk spilling any I stopped at 15.29 litres which was exactly £20 (£1.308p/litre - almost double the price of my previous refill @ 69.9p/litre). I suspect the tank has a 16 litre capacity although I can't see the tank size stated in the owners handbook other than what I posted above where it says roughly 13 litres to refill. I now have an Adblue range of 15,000 miles, so very roughly 1000 miles to a litre - my last one used double that at roughly 500 miles to a litre.
