Throttle Response Change Using VCDS

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I was reading a couple of threads about throttle response changes that can be made via VCDS.  The two options being:

Option 1:

  • 44 module (steering assist)
  • Security access: 19249
  • Adaptations
  • Select channel: 'Driving profile switchover'
  • Change from 'Incremental: controlled over time' to 'Direct: controlled over threshold value'

Option 2: "Audi Mod"

  • Controller 01- Engine
  • 07 - Coding
  • Byte 0, Bit 0-2,
  • Change from Škoda (01) to AUDI (02)

I'm thinking on getting VCDS to try above and other things but have a couple of questions first I hope you can help with:

1. If doing either option do I need to do it separately for both keys / driver profiles or does doing the change once do it for all "drivers"?

2. "Audi Mod": I've read that doing this can sometimes cause problems, especially with cars with DCC.  I've got a 2017 2.0 TDI, 190 BHP (remapped to 210BHP ish)  with DSG.  No DCC, standard shocks/springs.  Do you know if there would be any problems with doing this mod?

3. Is there any benefit of doing one option over the other or is the best option to do both at the same time?

Any advice muck appreciated.

No

No issues at all with mine that had DCC

(mine was also mapped to 220bhp)

Do them together

Finally you will need a HEX-V2 or HEX-NET not the older (and discontinued HEX+CAN) interface.

I´ve done the 1st one with my TDI190 using my old Micro-CAN VCDS.

But all problems feedbacks with DCC dissuaded me to do the 2nd one. I did not want to risk any trouble.

Thanks guys.

@Gizmo  Did you notice much difference after changing / would you recommend doing it?

I've done the throttle response mode, and it made a nice difference.

I didn't do the Audi mode cause I've heard good n bad about it - I didn't want to fall in the bad n prefer my car to think it's still a Skoda, not an Audi.

Yes it was better than std, but it didn’t remove the lag completely so I fitted a throttle response box, which removed it completely

Which box please and can it be easily removed?

Thx

Mine was older version of this:

5 mins to fit, a bit fiddly to release the plug as it's at the top of the throttle pedal so you are doing it mainly by feel, but it's certainly not difficult.

+1 to this.

I did the Audi mod and noticed a mild difference (not everyone does) but tbh I just tuned that out of my mind after a few days. Now have the box set to R+ with hair trigger and am used to that.
messy to do - just interrupts the loom: loom plugs into box, box plugs into pedal.

I have enabled the throttle response  and still have it coded but the audi coding made some dtc apear in abs module after driving.

I have to mention that mine is a 1.6 tdi 120hp.

I have this unit and I can vouch that the lag is removed, even when it’s set to normal.

I did both. 2016 standard 280 with dcc,  no errors. It feels better but could be placebo effect.

Well I've looked in to getting VCDS and plan to try both and see what difference they make.

I've also been looking into an Ultimate9 EVC Throttle Controller.  Does anybody have any experience with it  / would you recommend getting one.

I see Stage1customs.com are selling them for €157.90 including delivery to Ireland (from Australia).  Does anybody know where else to get them or is there another throttle controller you'd recommend (and where to get it).

Thanks.

Can recommend the dtuk version. Works well and has many tuning options. Ingot mine second hand from a golf gtd user. Went onto my Octavia 2.0tdi and now on my Passat GTE. So I can say for certain that it's cross compatible between those models so likely to be across many others.

I wouldn't have an issue buying used again.
