TURN OFF ALARM WITH DEAD REMOTE

Featured Replies

Ok seen some topics of a similar subject but no proper answers so here goes.

Today I locked the car with the remote, then on my return the remote was dead. I pulled of the handle cover and unlocked the door, and the alarm went off. Got in and tried to start the car and it said "no key detected"  so could not turn off alarm or start car.

Nothing in the hand book to cover this aspect. Any ideas? Cheers

Easy answer. Get second key. Second easiest - new battery in fob. 3rd I'm not sure why the key didn't work as I thought the immobiliser rfid didn't use the key fob battery... maybe I'm wrong..

It doesn't AFAIK

Keyless start on the other hand usually has a back up doesn't it, you usually have to hold the key up to the steering column where it can read the rfid like it used to on old school ignition.

Yes OK. It should of read it as normal, regardless of flat key fob. That is what I thought but admittedly I've never done it and not from a locked and alarmed car.
