1st time - Battery low, warning

Featured Replies

I had not seen a battery low warning with any of my Skodas before, excluding a problem where stuff started to turn off while in a traffic queue!!

No actual warning though.

It is on overnight charge with a C-Tec. I must drive further more frequently to keep it in a better charge state.

How old is the car / battery?

Driving further and putting back in a charge because there is high demand with lights, heated rear screen mirrors etc on is good.

But over time batteries do get to the stage where they will eventually need replaced.

That should not be the case here.

I wouldn't bother with driving around the block a few times so to speak, using extra fuel will just throw away money.  Best if you are mindful of journey planning and knowing what you know now, to be prepared to give it some juice with your C-Tec (weekly/nightly as you decide)

And of course try to give the car a little longer run if there's an attraction you can go visit/town etc for a longer journey here and there.

Just had a search for CTEK charger as my car sits doing nothing most of the time on my drive. Lawks they're pricey!

Which is the most cost-effective CTEK to get  for the average Skoda driver, as I sometimes get the "Low Battery - Car Needs Driving!" message too.

Edit: Ah ha! This looks like a reasonable set.

2022! what with one thing and another (the economic climate, covid) it hardly gets used, except for a quick "Mr Toad" dash around the local

sections of the M4

The MXS 5 is probably the most useful as it has a higher charge rate. As you have noticed they are pricy! so it pays to really shop around Amazon is fairly good but shop around.

The most used accessory is the (cigarette lighter) power socket adapter lead.

Definitely shop around, Halfords have some CTEK's in at not too mad a price.  The CTEK MXS 5.0 is £80 currently, but low stock.  I picked up a MXS 7.0 for £99.99 (you can now use PAYDAY10 to get it down to £98.99, this is 7Amp which matches the 70Ah rating in the perfect 10% rate.

I bought a CTEK MXS 5 recently. Very impressive bit of kit - very easy to use as well.
