Auto unlock

Featured Replies

I have Octavia mark IV (A8) 2022 model in India and I have a mystery to solve 😄. Few times I have observed that if I walk up to the car facing the front side of the car, it auto unlocks if I have keys on me but this does not happen all the time. Anyone has any clue about the algorithm how this works?

I read somewhere on this forum that the buttons on the keys are quite sensitive with, for example, the tailgate opening seemingly by itself whereas it seems the release button was accidentally pressed whilst the key was in a pocket. Could it be a similar thing in your case - perhaps the unlock button has some pressure on it as you approach the car? May explain the intermittent nature of your observations.

Just a thought….

Yeh, this could be the reason. I have a custom skin on the key fob and as you said, unknowingly by accident those might been pressed.

I think that is an issue on some cars...

I am having the exact same issue.

I had the key on my upper sleeve and it wasnt even under some sort of pressure, yet the car opened by itself when I was 1meter close to it.

Updating to 1896 has not fixed the issue.

We can stay comfortable with the fact that they open only when we are near to them.

And no, the setting that opens the car when the key is near it is disabled. Only kessy is active.

There is a option in infontainment where you can toggle on or off for that. Its basically unlocks the car for you when you are approaching it. Check it.

Its inactive. :)

The same happened to me recently a few times. I owns this car for more than 2 years and this never happened until now.

I was browsing through settings in my car the other day and I accidently enabled the Auto unlock setting. Of course I immediately turned it off. After this, it happened 2 or 3 times that my car unlocked itself without touching the handles.

Thats what "enabled" this behavior on my side as well.

I assumed enabling the auto-unlock when approaching the car also locked it when walking away from it. Never liked the idea so never enabled it.

Does this random unlock leave it unlocked or does it re-lock after a short while?

Didn't try this specifically.

But in the manual it says the car will lock itself if no door is opened within 45s after unlocking.
