How to connect with smartlink wirelessly (?)

Featured Replies

I have searched all over the  internet for this procedure and either my search skills are bad or noone really explains in details the requirements and the actual process. Yes, I have seen it happening in MIB3 but me having MIB2 makes me still wonder if it is possible. MySkoda app, says that it is when I insert my VIN and it actually tells me to create a hotspot on my phone and connect to it via the infotainment. After the connection is established, neither MySkoda app (which I don't care much) nor the Android Auto connect and is still asking me for a USB connection. Yes, the data allowance option is enabled just in case someone asks. Can someone drop some light in this story please...? By the way my phone is Pocophone X3 NFC. Thank you in advance 🙏

You need to buy a dongle like this...

If you've got any questions let me know. I've been using it for over a year for androidauto.

They're currently making this same dongle work with carplay, but it's still in beta stages.

I have seen that device already and thank you for the advice. My only question is why do they even imply that it is possible to connect directly without using any dongles??? Since Skoda gives you the option they should make it work!!! Anyway, I will wait a bit longer and see if someone else offers a solution using no dongles otherwise I will proceed with that...

There's no other solution for the mib2s.

For one that definitely works with CarPlay, I've been using this one for over 2 years now

hmmm looks good that dongle. I may consider getting something like that as my S22 with it's case it sticking out of the gap by the socket and I keep knocking the USB cable whenever I change gear.

I may look to get a cradle with a QI charger, just so on longer journeys my phone doesn't run out of juice.

I’m thinking of getting this. Was it easy to set up? Does it perform well?

Really easy to setup, it's been on two cars now and performs with no issues for me.

I also use AAWireless and it's amazing - sometimes errors on startup but a quick unplug/replug sorts it!

Great for long trips or lots of short bursts where I didn't want to plug my phone in repeatedly 20 odd times in a day!
