Inspection Service

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a 2017 MK3 Superb, that was serviced 11 months ago at the stealership.  It is on the two year schedule.

I now have a message to say "inspection service due".

For a car that is now 6 years old, I think it's probably getting past where it's worth the hassle and price of going to Skoda for stuff.

So, as the MOT is due anyway, can you see an issue in just getting that done and leaving the service 12 months, or would an oil change at a local garage be worth doing while it's there?  And is it possible for me to reset the indicator to say that the "inspection" has been done?

Many thanks for your advice - this is a great forum!

A mis-seting / resetting in the past.

There really is no Inspection Service then Oil Service Due.

So the car is on Variable Servicing , 18,000-20,000 miles / 24 months and the Inspection service needs deleted.

Have them clear the 'Inspection' unless someone here tells you how to.

Now to confuse more Services are call Inspection & Oil Services.

try that, I’ve not done it myself and that’s on an octavia but I doubt it’s different

im not sure if that resets it for another year or two if your car is on the long service setting

I don't know exactly what was done, but this raises questions in my mind about what oil was used (check invoice) and the (in)competence of the Main Stealer in question.

As for where to go from here, that depends on the oil, but I would certainly switch to a local independent.

Hi,

I did what the video suggested, same as pic below, but this has re-set the oil service interval rather than the inspection interval:

You are really going to need to find someone with VCDS to put back the car onto what service regime it was on before, and turn off the inspection.  It can all be programmed back in, but you will need to know if it was set to long life oil change or fixed.

If it is counting down to from the 24 months setting then it is reset from Variable Servicing.

Just the Inspection was never canclled.

It will be long life oil  unless they are a place that will have used VW502 00 so 5w 40 FS for Fixed Services.   'Inspection service' is not 'Oil Service Due.'

Try and find a VCDS user on the map that is local and has knowledge to input the correct values back in (as you are partway into your oil service)

Remember that you have to convert the miles driven into Km for the values stored.

So a 30,000Km Long life oil change, and you have done 10,000 miles since last changed, you need to input 16,090Km or such as distance driven since last change.

Locate a user, and send a PM (try and locate a user with Hex v2 as you have 2017 model!

On that video he resets the oil then pops up with inspection at the end but then it didn’t come back.

If yours still comes back then yeah it’ll need something like VCDS or similar

If you have someone near you with even an OBDEleven it will reset the services for you. My oil and inspection run at different intervals as well. I just reset both every year when I service the car.
I run my own schedule, so the reminder is just a PITA anyway.
the old minor/major/minor/major interval was a better system than this digital rubbish IMO, so that’s what mine gets, with haldex/dsg oil changes etc thrown in at whichever interval they occur during.

Hi, am getting the mot done at the dealer, who are not going to charge me for resetting the interval.

Thanks for all the advice!
