Switch off current location data

Featured Replies

Hi I have a my 2023 vRS. I have a small, niggling problem I can't resolve. There is a warning message when I switch on saying my location details are being stored and I should go to 'the control centre' to switch it off if I that's what I want. After a lot of looking I have been unable find this switch anywhere. Trouble is I haven't a clue what is issuing the message - the car? infotainment? android auto? my tom tom sat nav? or something else?

Any suggestions much appreciated. TIA John

hi John.

It's probably a message from the infotainment system, to do with the privacy settings for your user. IIRC there are three or four levels, the most open sharing location with the primary user of the car so they can track where it is parked for example. It will also be sync'd with the Škoda servers I believe.

I don't use Android Auto, but it could be that through it the phone is storing the car location when parked, which can be useful I guess, but also potential privacy issues (but the Google and Android probably know our every movement anyway!). That, I guess, could be changed in the Android control centre or settings screens.

Hope that helps...

pull the shortcut bar from the top, settings should be there.

Apologies for the delay and many thanks, gentlemen, for taking the time to respond. Yes it is the user details, easily changed on the pulldown menu on the home screen. John
