Installing a rear view camera - boot trim removal

Featured Replies

I have a 2022 Fabia and I’m looking to fit an aftermarket rearview camera. However I’m unsure how I’d go about removing the interior trim on the boot/tailgate. Do I need to undo any screws or does it just pull off?

If it’s anything like the Mk 2 Fabia, undo the screw retaining the rubber pull strap in place and then pull off the inner boot trim.  It should be mounted with about ten or so pop clips.  Use something plastic but stiff to start the panel off.  Be careful as it is easy to mark the trim, so don’t use something narrow like a screwdriver.

Edit: Sorry, I just remembered I have a 2022 Fabia in the drive as a courtesy car while mine is in for repair!  In addition to the pull strap there appear to be five further screws (torx) holding the trim on.

Do you have a diagram of how the original camera is connected?

I know where it is connected to the radio, but where does the power to the cameras come from?

Hi, PEDROR!1 has a video on how to install rear view camera. I believe he takes power from the wiper motorI it is all in the video.Hope this helps. Regards Andy

But I want to know how it is originally connected. I have a diagram from my Fabia but there is no power there. The way Pedro hooked it up is wrong because the camera is powered all the time and should only work when reverse gear is engaged.

Hi,After watching his video,it appears the camea only works when reverse is selected. Also the camera has to be coded to car to work properly. If it is only power you need wire it through the fuse box.Regards Andy
