That’s a pretty pointless comment. I could say the MC looks like all fur coat and no knickers. Each to his own.

Pointless in your opinion.  I reserved my Monte Carlo from a dealership in Cambridge before I’d even seen it in the flesh.  Before collecting it I went to my local Skoda main dealer to see if I could see one but they never had any MC’s in stock.  They did however have other spec Kamiqs on the forecourt and to say I was disappointed is an understatement, the non MC’s look bland in comparison.  You might not like it but it’s my opinion.  Simple.

It’s not your opinion that the SEL is bland that I objected to. Which is why I said each to his own. It’s your statement that it’s an old man’s car which is the pointless generalisation. It’s like me saying I don’t care for the MC’s styling, which is a valid opinion, but if I said it’s a hairdresser’s car, or driven by a backwards facing baseball cap wearing boy racer that would be an unfair generalisation. I’ll get off my soapbox now.

Some cars remind me of midwives cars, some remind me of old man cars, and some remind me of baseball cap wearing boy racers, and if we are all honest we all subconsciously pigeonhole certain cars to a certain demographic…..difference is I just said it.  How many times have you seen a chavved up Corsa with a wide bore exhaust and thought (or said) boy racer?  Probably more times than you care to admit.

If you took offence that’s on you.

Now, where’s my baseball cap.

Ok, we’ll leave it there. I’m sure there’s much more we have in common than divides us, notably an affection for the Kamiq. Just different models.

‘Sport’ mode is also useful to obtain lower gear long descents. Also gives better driving experience on winding country roads.
