Where can I get a replacement boot switch?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

The boot switch on my Mark 3 Scout is broken - I can still open the boot with the key fob, so I would like to replace the micro switch.

I have looked on eBay and other spares sites and I can’t find a suitable replacement.  The closest are products for other Octavia generations of other Skodas.

Can anyone point me in the direction of the part I need ?

Thanks so much !

I recently did the reverse camera retrofit on my mk3 scout, so I have my boot switch spare if you'd like it? Alternatively you could also do the reverse camera retrofit, it was a £40 kit on aliexpress plus some cable rods, took me an afternoon.

Isn't the boot switch in the latch?

I had to replace the latch on my 15 Scout as the switch had intermitent failures meaning the electric tailgate wouldn't operate correctly. Got one from a hatch as powered/non powered wagon/hatch are all the same on the mk 3

I pulled my original ones apart for giggles and I needed to drill out the rivet that the catch pivots on to get the thing apart enough to see the switches...

Be interested to see if there's a different version or method.

Do you mean the switch or the latch? In my mind the switch is the external button you press to open the boot, and the latch is the mechanism that holds the boot closed, operated by the switch

Do you have a link to the reverse camera?

For a 2016 Mk3 Scout I used camera A, however I ordered camera E by accident initially. If that will fit anyone's vehicle then let me know, I'd be happy to sell it.

Ahh, I see.

There are a pair of electrical switches inside the latch itself. At least one turns on the lights in the cargo area once the latch is released. I'll have to look at the setup, but I wonder if the other one is to tell the electrical striker to pull in on the powered models.

Personally, I'd be calling the button you mentioned a button, as its something you press. But it gets all muddled because the term buttons and switches on the dashboard get used interchangably...

If anyone is after a replacement tailgate button if I do have a few for sale and can post them to you easily enough.

Drop me a message if anyone requires ones
