Hi all,

Has someone tried to update the radio database, especially the Logos for some Radio Stations that are missing them?  The related files and instructions are available in the link below after you type in your VIN no:
https://updateportal.skoda-auto.com/en-GB

Sadly, none of the procedures worked in my case Bolero SW: 1896
I've also took a look in the German forum, but again I haven't had any luck with the following instructions (just use Google Translate like I did since I'm not good at German at all):

https://www.skodacommunity.de/threads/radiodatenbank-update-ist-moeglich.144957/post-2321162

Basically I didn't manage to make that "Load Logo" menu to be displayed, hence to load the dedicated logo for a radio station.
The files on the memory stick (formatted as FAT32) are somehow "visible" if I try to access them from the Media, left hand menu.

Another question is: How can we check the Radio Database version? I'm asking it because this kind of information isn't available in my case:

Ta

No joy here, sometimes the logo appears, sometimes it doesn't.

Not having a SD card slot is a right pain.

The instructions haven't been updated. The SD card was available with MIB2 and MIB2.5, I think.

In our case, with MIB3, we can use an USB memory stick, formatted as FAT32, with one of the front USB slots.

I've managed to do the upgrade on the Radio Stations Logo Database by just following the instructions from the Phonostar official document:
https://www.phonostar.de/download/vw/37W_Stationlogos_CustomerUpdate.pdf

More details in the original source thread: https://www.skodacommunity.de/threads/radiodatenbank-update-ist-moeglich.144957/post-2349030

Note: For those unfamiliar with German (Iike me), just use Google Translate to find the relevant information.

Remarks: There are some issues with latest version (v1.31.42), so debug is ongoing. I used v1.31.40, instead.

Good luck!

Where did you find the link for the zip files? I can't find it on the phonostar.de website and the link you have posted of the v1.31.40 version doesn't work...

Hello @Bechrissed,

Here is the official link: https://www.phonostar.de/vw/en/download.

  • just add software version from your unit in the search box, then a download button will be active. e.g. "5E3035816J"
  • bear in mind that latest version 1.31.42 can't be installed. More details in the related thread: https://www.skodacommunity.de/threads/radiodatenbank-update-ist-moeglich.144957/page-8#post-2349987
  • I can provide the archive for the old version that worked for me (just give me a trusted upload server).

Very strange that the above link is not available. Probably they removed the file from the server.

    Cheers,

Thank you!

Hello @luccio96 ,

Apologies but I don't have v1.31.40 anymore. Probably I did a clean-up and deleted the old versions since the update is working fine on Skoda Mk4.
I only kept the latest 2 or 3 versions just for backwards compatibility if something goes wrong on an update.

Cheers,
D

😭

Nice I've updated mine and it's worked for all except for the main 3 stations I listen too 😂

God knows why Absolute radio ones keep on getting missed

Was this on a car with the Infotainment? And if so I'm assuming you use one of the USB-C ports in the storage tray between the front seats?

It really is weird how most of the missing logos are national stations like Absolute, Heart, Radio X etc....... Yet countless small local ones (Sheffield Live! for instance) are included.

I've just gone to the portal linked above..... Entered my Infotainment part number and it says no update could be found for that part number and doesn't give a download link? (Ignore the out of date Software and Nav info it's a photo taken when I first got the car last April).

I just downloaded the zip file no entering of part number

Don't suppose Radio X and Hits Radio are now included with the this latest version?

Radio X yes hits no

Updated mine just now..... Prefer the new dark BBC icons rather than the old white ones and happy I now have the Radio X icons as I listen to Radio X more than any other.

Just checked back on the link above and I still get told "No update could be found for your part number, Please check you have entered the number correctly" I've reported it a few times but still the same.

Anyway, Is v1.31.56 still the latest update?

Also.... What are other people getting when they enter their InfoTainment part number into the website? Is it saying the same as mine or does it give you details or a link for an update file? And if so how is your part number differing to mine (Image of mine a few posts up).

  • 1 month later...

I still get told my InfoTainment part number cannot be updated when using the above web link..... It gives me the option to report my prt number so it can be added which I've done numerous times.

My Infotainment part is..... 5E3035816H

Anyone else able to confirm they can use the web link posted above to check for updates for the Infotainment in mk4 cars?

Hello @WaveyDavey ,

Just use a VW part no instead, e.g. 5H0035816 .
The below link is the result of the archive that must be used for upgrade:
https://www.phonostar.de/download/vw/MQB3_LGe_Europe_v1.31.56.zip

Cheers

Cheers i'll give that a try instead..... I installed v1.31.56 a while ago but according to the email from Phonostar posted in the other radio logos thread elsewhere in the forum the next release is out today.
