Electric boot not closing properly

Featured Replies

Hi

Intermittently but getting more regular, boot closes then opens a few mm, so it rattles about. Interior lights stay on and boot open warning appears on dash.

Anyone had this? Any solutions?

thanks

Is there any debris that has fallen into the lock cavity stopping the

latch engaging properly? Push the sprung cover down to check.

Is there debris in the bottom boot seal?

Sorted - surprised no-one else has had this issue

the pin in the boot the latch goes round has a sleeve on it which is meant to rotate when the latch engages .

Ours was seized, so it tried to lock and couldn’t

wd40 to the rescue

local garage sorted it while car was in for service

Thanks for sharing.  This is bound to come in useful in the future.

Hi Xantamisch - glad you got the problem sorted. Having watched your video, I’ve started a Crowdfunding page to try to raise money to buy a bucket and sponge for you. I’m sure the tailgate would have worked fine had it not been for the half hundredweight of crud plastered on it. 😂😂

Mine is just as dirty most of the time! I find the extra weight helps it shut a bit quicker in the rain. 😂

One of the penalties for living in rural Norfolk I guess.

He’ll need two buckets to avoid swirl marks in the paint. 😂

Seriously, glad you got it sorted.

Check the top wiring where it goes into the body via the rubber tubing at the top of the hatch, the wires break and cause the problems you mention

@xantamisch please could you reshare this video, as I have the exact same issue.
