Petrol flap not opening at all help

Featured Replies

So my nearly month old Octavia vrs estate petrol has its first issue and its kind of a biggy given I found the issue at the petrol station.

The flap just won’t open. Assume it’s a push in to open job - I’ve opened it three times so I can’t be imagining it - but there is nothing in any pressing position that suggests it’s going to pop back out.

boot doesn’t appear to have anything obvious at all to get in via some sort of backup. Help guys!!!

Assume the car comes with breakdown will they come out for this do you think? Thanks in advance. Alan

Given the flap locks with the central locking sounds like a fault in that system. They should cover that.

I met a lady with a similar problem, but I realised she had locked the car as she got out (an automatic reaction for many people)

so the flap would not open. This is not necessarily what happened to thommo41.

I had the same problem but only once. Pulled into petrol station, couldn’t open the filler flap. The car wasn’t locked but I then locked the car and unlocked it. Flap then opened.

Afternoon all. So tried unlocking and locking numerous times in rain and in dry, in daylight and darkness. Nothing. Right worried and checking out the best the internet has to offer. Drew blanks. Then my neighbour called a friend who runs a Vw specialist about a possible manual override and he said ‘sounds stupid but try pressing the unlock on the fob five times in quick succession’. Im laughing a little as I work in IT and have told people before equally daft fixes. But Christ on a bike it worked. Genuinely tried so many unlocks and locks but never quickly pressing unlock only over and over. Worked though haha. Phew!

Well it’s good to know that trick 👍👍

Strange how yours is a VRS Estate as is mine, I wonder if it’s the only model with the problem?
