Auto rear wiper??

Featured Replies

Does the fabia vRS have auto rear wiper?? When you have the front wipers on and put it in reverse the rear one comes on too??

If so can this auto function be turned off with VAG-COM??

Cheers.

Does the fabia vRS have auto rear wiper? YES

Can it be turned off? I doubt it. And more to the point, why? Its there to clear the rear screen to allow easy vision when reversing in the rain. :)

Why would you want to turn it off?

But yes you can with VAG COM.

I have this on my CTR and all its succeded in doing is scratching the **** out of the rear window. When your reversing there's hardly any rain going on the back window so there's nothing to lubricate the wiper blade it just scrapes all the crap over the glass and scratches it! :thumbdwn:

Its a good idea in theory but not in practice....

A rubber blade scratches the glass?

Personally I allways found the feature quite smart, never had a scrathed rear window either.

I've always forgotten about the auto wipe and often look back, and wipe/wash before engaging reverse.

A rubber blade won't scratch the glass! Its all the dust and dirt on the glass thats dragged over it by the wiper that scratches it! :P

A most useful function, esp. first thing in the morning reversing out of the driveway. Can't see why you'd ever want to disable it.

Usually you get some water on the rear windscreen, if you're going very slowly the water will fall onto the glass, if you are going more quickly you'll usually get some spray as it's a hatchback.

Useful feature though, if you want it not to work on some occasions, just turn off the windscreen wipers before you reverse. :)

My back windscreen wiper has never worked, and seems to have rusted pointing upwards on my rear windscreen, so I cannot really comment.

I have found a very useful alternative use for it though - When my dog goes for a poo and I there are no dog bins nearby I loop the handles of the poo bag over the wiper, carrying it home to be put in my outside bin. Never tested it on motorways, as could become unpleasent for the people driving behind me, but you cannot call me an irresponsible dog owner.

When I had horses I used to use the spoiler for carrying hay and haylage nets, hence it has come a little loose.

Next time you do that, make sure to tie the bag loosely and when you've got someone in a convertible or a ch@v behind you, speed up so it flies off over their car!!! :D:rofl:

That would be so antisocial I think I would deserve an ASBO!

It would be funny, though i think i'll be giving Exeter a miss when i go down to Torquay in August, just in case i get stuck behind you after you've been walking the dog!!!! :D

Emily X, your rear wiper is supposed to be used for removing crap from the rear window. Not adding it !

Wow! A sheep in wellies, I like you aviator!

My avatar sheep does not in fact have green wellies, but green calipers - and twin horns on the front. People tell me the handling is a bit wooly.......

Seems fine on mine - absolutely no scratches whatsoever after 21,000 miles.

And I've recently cured the blade judder by unclipping it and rotating the blade.
