Squeeky Start

Featured Replies

Hi All!

Yesterday morning when I started the car I was greeted by a pulsating squeeking noise from the front of the engine compartment, probably around the timer belt or fan belt. It lasted for 15 seconds or so and then waned away to nothing. For the rest of the starts yesterday there was no such sound...

But it happened for the first start again this morning again. We have had damp weather over the last few days. There has never ever been anything like this before. On my previous car (1985 Mazda 626)I used to get noises far worse (much higher pitch and far more penetrating), especially during wet weather and if I splashed through big puddles while driving.

Anyone else get this at all. Any ideas/quick remedies?

Mike (1999 L&K 110 TDI)

Yep, I've got the same. Appeared over the last couple of days when car left standing overnight. Not sure what it is though. Sorry.

Jon

Yep me too

I just leave the car running for 2 mins before i drive off.

Doesnt happen other than first start up of the day when left overnight.

I assumed everyone else gets it, doesnt seem to affect anything else
