2007 Octavia PRNDS lit up together - 09G Gearbox

Featured Replies

2007 Octavia 2.0 FSi with O9G Auto box, not DSG.

Driving home tonight as some point my gear indicator went static as per the pic, gearbox appeared to be operating as normal. Stopped, switched off, removed key, started again, no difference. After a few miles it returned to normal, just the D highlighted and the gear number displayed, then another few miles it went back to the pic. Next stop, it wouldn't release the key, started the engine, selected some gears, into park again, switched off, key out. Next trip to shop, all appears normal except for the gear indicator. Back into the car to come home and stuck in 1st gear, wouldnt change, but i could change it using tip-tronic. Once home, no reverse lights or parking sensors, won't release the key, some messing around I got the key out.

Has anybody ever had something similar?

I scanned it with VCDS and got 2 fault codes

  • 18253 - Please check DTC Memory of Steering Electronics (J527)

P1845 - 000 -

  • 02413 - Switch for Selector Lever Position P Lock (F319)

008 - Implausible Signal

Looking at various channels it would appear the car thinks its stuck in "Manual" and I'm fairly sure the issue lies within the gear selector in the car but I have not yet stripped it out to look properly at it and information online of how to test it is sketchy at best.

When first switching on the ignition the P displays normally for less than a second, then 1 - 6 shows on the dash (manual mode display) and then the PRNDS as per the pic. Unplugging the grey square connector stops this happening with just the PRNDS lit, which I understand is the indication of a fault.

So, I cannot find a used unit online to suit the 09G and DSG seems to be a different part number, but I'm wondering are the electrics of the DSG essentially the same and I could make a DSG selector work on my car? Part No I believe to be 1K2 713041C

Or, can anybody offer any other advice with regard to testing or diagnosing before spending nearly £600 on a replacement shifter?

Reg U*Z2*** ? You need to change the selector unit 1K2 713 041 C which is £882 plus a complete PITA the fit as it comes out from below so the heat shield and exhaust have to come down. To add insult to injury, as per usual it is on backorder and could possibly even go obsolete next year.

Thank you! This was my fear, yes that is the reg of the car. Have you came across this fault before? All my testing leads to the sensors / switches in the selector.

I've seen kits online to replace the sensors on the DSG selectors,  wiuld you know if the electronics of the DSG would be the same? Loads of DSG selectors on ebay which is why I'm wondering of I could make one from two.

We have fitted a lot of these selectors, more to Seat Leon's than others such as the Golf 6 which use the same part. We don't rebuild them, we need a first time fix with a two year warranty provided by TPS as at £75 an hour, the labour quickly adds up.

Yeah, can understand that! Thank you very much for your help, it has at least confirmed I'm right.
