I can't seem to find the cylinder layout for my engine

is cyl 1 drivers or pass side ?

Driver's side on RHD cars.

@Breezy_Pete Cheers

Number one cylinder is generally the furthest from the gearbox, this is almost universally true irrespective of make and model.

This thread was prompted by  a mis fire and what sounded like terminal engine failure, turns out it was a plug and / or coil on No. 1 cyl (only renewed 4 months ago by Skoda dealership)

Anyway not confident with the VAG plugs that were in have now replaced with Bosch plugs (96335) and new Delphi coils throughout, all seems good now

Anyone have positive experiences with plugs for the 1.4 TSI 180 ?

If those are Bosch iridium then you'll be ok, the standard VAG plugs are simply not good enough to survive the twinchargers combustion chamber temperatures.

Yes Iridium 👍

@sepulchraveyou have been saying for a while now that all that matters if you fit the correct spec of spark plugs.

Totally ignoring the experience of those with the cars and the knowledge of the issues and the OE plugs and it is the one cylinder that the plug gets fouled in and the tip gets burned up.

They are Iridium.

Good stuff, stay lucky.

I wouldn’t be happy with Bosch plugs over NGK/denso in a twincharger just asking for trouble
