150Bhp 2.0 TDI DSG Remapping?

Featured Replies

Has anybody remapped their 2.0tdi 150Bhp DSG Superb?

Can the engine and gearbox take an extra 50Bhp?

I'm tempted to remap, but do not want to compromise reliability

Welcome.

It will be fines with the remap if you have a good trusted person doing it, but you had best IMO to run the car for a good few months / km before invalidating your manufacturers warranty.

Just to be sure there are no snagging faults.

A remap isn't going to yield an extra 50 bhp.  My 150TDI Yeti is remapped to a claimed 180 / 185 bhp which is probably about correct and the most you're likely to get without further mods.

It's also common to remap the DSG box to optimise the gear change point and behaviour and to increase the clamping pressure of the clutches to cope with the increased torque from a remap.

I've seen a few tuners, with dynos that can get an extra 50Bhp out of the 150Bhp 2.0 Tdi.

But am very hesitatant if its going to alter the reliability of the car

I think you might well find a difference between their claims and the results of a dyno test.  Equally, not all maps are created equal.  You need to be aware of dangerously high exhaust gas temperatures, for example.

Equally, headline BHP figures are not what's important on a road going diesel.  The shape of the torque curve and the area under it are what's important for driveability.

The best and safest results will be obtained from a custom map created on the dyno.  I'd suggest talking to Darkside Developments for an estimate of realistic and safe gains that can be gained from your engine.

You’ll see 190-200bhp reliably and probs around 420-430 nm with a good custom map and dsg map. I’ve used Racingline in the past very very good reliable 100k miles trouble free on my 190 tdi and recently used TVS engineering for my 272. Both beautiful maps but the dsg map from TVS is another level

Does the 150 TDI in the superb differ to the Octavia? My Octavia mapped to a solid 190 ish which actually felt a bit weak. I didn't have the box mapped though and since parted it out. Did about 20k miles with zero issues.
