What kit comes as standard on 2017 Mk III 2.0L TDA SE L Executive model?

Featured Replies

Has anyone here got a Mk 3 Superb 2.0l TDI SE L Executive trim level car and can tell me what it comes with kit wise, such as lane assist etc, at all please?

Hi pretty sure mine is a 2017 model year (though registered in 2018) - 2.0TDI 190 DSG 4x4 SEL Exec Not exhaustive but notable features:

Leather seats - drivers is electrically adjustable with memory function (adjusts mirrors also) - I believe they are "comfort seats")

MIB 2.5 Columbus sat nav with (wired)   android auto  and bluetooth

Xenon lights with cornering function

Adaptive cruise control with follow to stop

Auto hold

Electric handbrake

Climate control - dual zone with rest function

Heated front seats

Rear parking sensors

Folding mirrors with puddle lights and safety lights in doors with additional puddle lights

Auto lights and wipers

Footwell lighting front and rear

High beam assist

Auxillary heater (electric to warm cabin up quicker when engine running not a pre heater)

Auto dimming rear view and door mirrors (also heated)

Tinted rear glass

Spare wheel (not full size)

Rear clock / thermometer display

It doesn't have Lane assist.

Hope that helps

Thank you for the list, so essentially basically almost the same as my current model but with the following improvements:-

New version of the Columbus sat nav with (wired)   android auto  and bluetooth.

Adaptive cruise control with follow to stop.

Auto hold.

Electric handbrake, (not sure if that is necessarily a good thing).

High beam assist.

Auxillary heater (electric to warm cabin up quicker when engine running not a pre heater). How does that work then?

You mention the climate control has a rest function, what is that then? I have dual zone climate control already. The rest I have got in my 2013 L&K and a lot more, my hire car has adaptive cruise control to stop as well, I don't know if I have the guts to trust it bring me to a stop from a high speed cruise. I did pluck courage to try it the other day in town traffic and it was fine though. 😲

My understanding is there is a small electric heater which the car automatically activates if its coldt- it just means the cabin warms up a bit quicker than a diesel otherwise would (helpful when the cabin on the estate is so huge!)

The rest function uses residual heat in the engine (if required) and interior fan to maintain ventilation +/- heating for 30mins ish after the engine is turned off. Helpful if you are sat with a sleeping baby / toddler or want to keep the car warm / cool(er) while you pop out for a short while.

Have had no problem with the ACC including from high speed cruise to stopping though instinctively in this situation you naturally brake yourself anyway. It's reassuring that you can feel through the pedal the car is often already braking before you are when this happens.

Was a bit skeptical of the e-handbrake but it does create space in the centre console and has some useful features eg auto engage / disengage

Best wishes

IME, once you have it, you’ll never want to go back to a manual system again.

Thanks for this. I just downloaded the owners manual but it seems to suggest that it burns fuel, i.e. diesel, I wonder if there are 2 types depending on the year of the car?

Below is the text from pages 125 - 127 from the manual, perhaps a quick way to check if there are different owners manuals might be to see what is printed on the back cover. The one I downloaded from this forum has this printed on it .

Auxiliary heating (auxiliary heating and ventilation)  Introduction The auxiliary heating heats the vehicle interior as well as the engine. For heating, fuel is consumed from the fuel tank. The auxiliary ventilation enables fresh air to flow into the vehicle interior with the engine switched off, whereby the interior temperature is effectively decreased (e.g. with the vehicle parked in the sun). The auxiliary heating (auxiliary heating and ventilation) (referred to just as auxiliary heating in the following) ensures the heating / ventilation depending on the setting of the air conditioning and the air outlet vents before switching off the ignition. WARNING ■ The auxiliary heating must never be operated in closed rooms (e.g. garages) – risk of poisoning! ■ The auxiliary heating must not be allowed to run during refuelling – risk of fire. ■ The exhaust pipe of the auxiliary heating is located on the underside of the vehicle. If you want to use the auxiliary heating, do not park the car in places where the exhaust fumes

can come into contact with flammable materials such as dry grass, undergrowth, leaves, spilled fuel etc. - risk of fire.

CAUTION The air inlet in front of the windscreen must be free (e.g. of ice, snow or leaves) to ensure that the auxiliary heating operates properly. Note ■ The auxiliary heating only switches the blower on, if it has achieved a coolant temperature of approx. 50 °C. ■ In the engine compartment, water vapour may form during the operation of the heater. Yeah, the hire car I'm using at the moment has that system, and I'm slowly coming round to the idea. The advantage of the old manual system was that you could see at a glance if the handbrake was applied, now you are trusting a light to show when it is, and that light does not work with the engine off. Speaking of the hire car. I can't wait to get back into a superb again, everything else just seems to be a toy against them.

Spec sheet says :

Additional el. heating

Without auxiliary heater/parking heater

And how often did you look down at the brake handle to check if it was on? The answer is never. You start the engine and drive off. You stop and the brake applies. You literally never think about it. Oh and you can turn off the auto function if you wish… but you won’t.

Sorry, I didn't make that very clear, when I mentioned at a glance, I meant when leaving the car as a visual check that you had actually applied the parking brake. You hear cases of people not doing so and their car can then roll away on its own.

I'm pretty sure it applies automatically if you open the drivers door (or maybe turn engine off) . Never paid too much attention as mine is DSG.

In the UK version we get the 'supplementary' heater which doesn't burn any fuel and only works when the engine is running, it does produce heat very quickly in the cabin.

The type that burns fuel is called the auxiliary heater.

In the infotainment screen it will look something like this:
