What happened to TopGear tonight?

Featured Replies

Did I miss something, amongst all the World Cup scheduling?

Is it just missing this week, or is it being shown at a different time?

Steve

It's off for the duration of the "World Cup" thingy ... :thumbdwn:

Bloody football thats what!!

Off the air for 5 weeks in total... :(

Bugger

Oh well, at least I know now

Cheers,

Steve

Seems a bit strange that they put it on before and after the World Cup. Why not put it ALL on after it? BBC eh!!

I was wondering where it had got to as well.

Can't say I miss it...can't watch any more completely unobjective road tests. i.e. like the one of a technically excellent BMW/Merc being beaten by comparitively badly built, less powerful Jag with cheap switchgear (same old story, second rate 'british' car) because it has more 'soul'. total bullox.

Give me a proper car program, one that actually deals with cars, not image and 'soul' and I'll watch it.

The thing i don't understand is, why was it off tonight? There was no bloody football on anyway...

Same here - if it there was football on instead of it, that would at least make sense. But instead there was some nature programme on about some American hunter bloke!!!

Because it was the only decent thing worth watching on the beeb so of course they're take it off the air for no good reason... :thumbdwn:

I notice 5th Gear's not on until the start of July either. :thumbdwn:

Not really on this, AT ALL

A football championship comes along, and everything else gets mucked up as a result

Steve

Yet another reason for me to hate the sport of football. Bloody game.

I agree with you 100%

The world cup is the biggest sporting event in the world and it happens once every four years. I love watching top gear but i am quite prepared to miss it for a few weeks, especially when it is for the World Cup, its not like it will never be on again is it?????

I do understand that not everyone likes football but i reckon there will be a significant number of people who have no interest in cars and will be glad of a break from Top Gear for a while.

Nah, it annoys me when they move programmes around for football. What also gets my goat is people thinking it is a good excuse for getting ****ed/missing work and others saying "Ah well, it is football after all." So bloody what? No-one would allow me time off to go see the World Rally or Tour de France would they? But because football is for some reason more popular than motorsport, I have to sit through weeks of inane drivel on the telly and radio and all because of a few blokes kicking a ball around a patch of grass.

There, Monday am rant over with.

Why all the moaning, I think the world cup is great, not a massive fan of football usually but am watching alot of the games just to see how poor we are against some of the best teams in the world!!!

I don't hear everyone complaining when Top gear has their summer break or winter break which lasts alot longer than the 5 weeks this competition is on

My employer would allow me to have time off to attend ANY sporting event. I would use a holiday or a flexi day for it, perhaps you need to change your job;)

I think its great that all the programmes get moved around for it personally. I am sick of the same old rubbish on TV week after week anyway, programmes with the same old predictable storylines/scripts. Its a shame they don't have the world cup every year in my opinion

The fact is that football IS more popular than those other sports so for a few weeks people will just have to deal with it i guess because i can't see it changing any time soon.

If there was a tournament involving motorsport that lasted a few weeks then you would be happy and a load of other people would be ranting just as you are now. No one is ever going to be happy no matter what sport had this much coverage.

:iagree:

apart from hopefully not being too poor against the good teams:rofl:

Aye, bring on the Football I say, once every 4 years, I am sure you will all cope ;)

I posted my rant before I'd had my cup of tea this morning. I was being particularly grumpy, but I'm only saying why it bothers me. I suppose this is a great opportunity for me to turn off the telly and get out in the car. The roads are usually deserted during a match, so I could use these quite periods to have a blast in the car up on the moors around Whitby. See? Every cloud has a silver lining, all I needed was my caffeine fix and the world is a better place.

I totally agree. My work place is arranging World Cup parties so that staff can watch the (Trinidad & Tobago) game this coming Thursday at 5pm. They are offering food and a free bar! I'm not interested in the football but the free bar alone would be worth it. Whilst I commend them for doing this for the employees, it is a sign of how mentally fantatical some people are about something that is now just a commercialised sport religion.

Having said all that, both TV programmes said at the end of the previous show that they would be off-air for a few weeks so unless you didn't watch them, it should be no surprise that they were not on television.

Our TV has been firmly off all weekend apart from the Mrs being unable to miss 24 last night - I have no idea what has happened in the World Cup, and I propose to keep it that way. On the other hand, the garden is looking very tidy :D

Was going to try and remember to have a squint at the British GP but was too busy - who won?

How did you keep up-to-date with developments in the Big Brother house then?

;)

Rob.

Hasn't that finished yet?
