Adaptive Cruise Control Cover - Skoda reluctant to change

Featured Replies

Hi

I have just got a used approved Superb Sportline 2.0 tsi 220, when I went to collect it from the dealer they realised either someone had reversed into it or it had been manouvered into the back of someone whilst they had it in for service/ MOT.  The front grille had split and you could see a mark where the impact was on the acc cover (at that point I thought the ACC cover was just part of the grille).  They were mega apologetic and promised to sort it as it was not there when I agreed to buy the car .  They told me the grille was ordered, collected the car from my house and swapped it and dropped it off with my wife.  When I got home I realised the grille was done but the bit in the middle still had the mark on (just bad enough to be annoying) - which I then realised was the cover for the acc sensor.  They had told me it was just one piece at the time. I've questioned why it was left but the initial response was that as it is part of the acc they can't paint it or refurb it (Why would I want that - change it cheap skates). I've gone back to them and said it just looks like a plastic cover so why can't it be changed.

Before I go full mental at them thought I better check what they are saying is nonsense.  The ACC cover is essentially just a plastic cover that can be changed easily isn't it?

The ACC works fine by the way.

Thanks

Guide on now easy it is to remove it

So definitely just a plastic cover then. Maybe I'll show them this guide they can't argue with that.

Not wishing to set hares running but does your ACC work OK?  I only ask as I sure I've read about relatively minor bumps to that area can lead to the radar needing to be realigned and calibrated and it its had a new grille and there's a mark on the radar cover...   Well who knows it's got to be worth checking.

Its definitely a cover and can b removed on its own, as shown above.

The cover is attached to the front grille on the bumper, and makes no contact with the ACC radar behind it.

Having said that, when ordering a new grille, the cover is a separate item, and must b ordered seperately.

There r two types, the one with chrome strips (like mine) and the one with black stripes (Sportline).

Pretty sure ur guys forgot to order the new matching cover, and have had to chuck the old one on ur new grille.

Front bumper removed.  U can c the ACC radar above the crash bar, in the background.....

Thanks for the replies, I've had no issues with the acc it seems to work fine, I think it was an oversight by them in not orderering the acc cover as well as the grille and maybe the sales guy is just trying to see if they can get away with not having to bother with it. Unless it has to be calibrated again after fitting a new cover and they are trying to avoid that.

Nope, changing or removing the cover does not require recalibration.

I've removed my front bumper a few times now - there is no recalibration required.

It's quite clear they forgot to order the cover.

Not acceptable.

If it was my car, I'd make them replace the cover for a new one.

Or order the part urself n send them the bill.

Anyways.....ur car....ur choice.
