octavia scout used in anger 👍

Yep our mk 2 4x4 was brilliant.  We went looking for a direct replacement but they were like hens teeth so ended up with a Kodiaq 4x4.

@3rdoctaviaI take it your Scout has road tyres as the Discovery has, but are your's All Terrains rather than Summer tyres.

What have you got on the car?

Hi Toot,

When I got it it had Centurato P7 road tyres all round, so after getting a few years out of them I've swapped to Michelin Cross Climate 2 about 18months ago which are in a different league. The chevron thread pattern seems to make the difference when it's slippy underfoot.

Cheers

Interested in your view of CC2s. Recently fitted a set to a FWD MK3 in the hope they would help (not expecting mud plugging performance) towing a caravan on wet camping fields. Sounds like I may have made a good choice.

I really like the Cross Climate 2 as I often found the longitudinal tread pattern on summer tyres act like a set set of skis once the start to slip on grass amd mud. I've towed a caravan on grass with them and never had a problem but some of that could be the AWD drive kicking in too.

I've not had them in snow yet but in the cold they definitely seem to keep their grip better than a summer tyre which seem to harden up and lose their bite.

They aren't cheap but as they are the only thing that is in contact with the road I didn't mind paying about £40 a tyre more than a summer tyre.

Cheers

@3rdoctaviaGood stuff, I have CrossClimate SUV's on my Shogun and they are sh!te in mud & will be getting changed soon for a decent set of All Terrains.

I even put on narrower than the standard 285's hoping they would be OK.

& was wanting a bit better fuel economy. So i failed miserably, and luckily they were just a bit cheaper with a trade discount.

We had the old Cc on our Octavia 4x4 and I always thought they were a good tyre...   In bad weather and snow especially it just dragged itself through.
