and are you happy with them? I heard a lot of people complaining about the grip for the Bridgestone Potenza S003 and I was curious if the Goodyears' feel good with the car. Thanks!

My VRS from 2021 has Potenza S003s on its 19in rims.

I am happy with the handling but I do not really push the car hard.

On the other hand:
a) There is a lot of road noise which may be more a result of the low profile (40).

b) I have had 3 tyres replaced in  2 years and 16000km due to damage - 2 from potholes and one from a screw in the tread. That is 2 more than I had in 19 years and 260000kms in my old car which also had Bridgestone Potenzas. But that car was a Honda S2000 with 16 inch 55 profile tyres.

Thanks a lot for the feedback! I was trying to collect different opinions from the owners so that I know what to expect from them. I don't know yet the build date for the car so therefore no idea if the car will come with Bridgestone Potenza or Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric yet. As far as I could find out, these 2 are the most common tires the car comes out of the factory with.

No, they're awful. They're Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersports.

Terrible handling but I can't afford to change them.

Sorry to hear that.. I know that quite a few people said that handling gets much better with Michelin Pilot Sport 5 or Pilot Sport 4S, but yeah, they are quite expensive..

The Goodyear website says "A race inspired tyre for superior grip and handling on dry roads"

https://www.goodyear.eu/en_gb/consumer/tires/summer.html

So pretty useless as an everyday tyre in a country where it rains, and gets damp winters.  A good tyre, but used wrongly

Absolutely spot on. The Eagle Assymetrics are far superior to these.

Mine came new in Dec 2021 with Goodyear Eagles. Pants! Binned the fronts on 18k for Michelin Pilot Sports ... much grippier, much comfier, much quieter.

Thanks for the feedback! Pilot Sport 5 or 4S?

Or Goodyear Eagle Assymetrics 5 or 6

People have been really satisfied with the Continental SportContact 7 as far as I've seen. It seems like a fair candidate to me :)

4S… local tyre shop Merit Tyre couldn’t supply any 5s

Shop around, also see if you can get any special offers via cashback websites or voucher codes, so you can pre-order them and have them fitted later.

Or try Camskill, Oponeo, MyTyres, Black Circles etc.

I have from factory  Bridgestone Turanza T005 fitted to my 2023 Diesel VRS

Hi ,

My 2022 RS came with Bridgestone Potenza S005. Truly awful. Coarse, noisy and unrefined. Could accept it if they handled well, but they don't. Michelin PS4 or 5 for sure next time.

My RS 9/2021 had Eagle F1 SuperSport. On dry roads were fantastic, in corners was like on rails. Nevertheless on wet was not so good and the noise was absolutely unbearable. I decided to switch them after 1,5 seasson to the Eagle F1 Assymetric 6 and I am really pleased right now. On dry almost same/wet noticeably better and the noise is perfection... Cannot be more happy about them. I am little bit worried about the wear, but we will see... I would recommend it to everyone. Right mix between sporty and comfy tire :)

Skoda factory seem to be fitting tyres that are great in warm and dry, but pretty poor in rain and colder weather.

Both Bridgestone and Continental have just launched new all year tyres which should be available in a few months (Turanza all season 6, and all season contact 2).  Might turn out to be most suitable all year tyre for UK use
