HUD directions

Featured Replies

I use Android Auto on my mk4 octavia. It gives directions in the form of arrows displayed on the HUD but they've been getting more and more nonsensical. It used to be accurate except for round abouts where pretty much everything was a u turn. Since yesterday,  everything is wrong - left hand turns instead of right, u turn at round about instead of left etc etc. Has anyone else seen this?

HUD with Android Auto works with no issues on my vRS, sounds like a trip to the dealer is needed to investigate.

How do you get HUD to display AA directions ? Doesn't for me and couldn't see any option to enable it.

It was enabled when I got the car. I use wireless Android Auto, and when AA is selected on the infotainment the directons are automatically shown to the right of the displayed speed on the HUD.

The HUD is definitely worth it as an option. I'd previously driven a BMW X3 with it (good) and another hire car that had it (can't recall the manufacturer). The Skoda HUD is very good.

Yep, activated from factory on my vrs too. I was thinking about today and it's only since the coolwalk update on AA. Full screen on waze is awesome, no sure worth the price for lack of accurate arrows though. Out of interest bigeyelittleeye, do you know if you're running the new version of AA?

Strange - not showing for me running latest AA with Coolwalk (love the spilt screen ability). I've only had the car 3 weeks (22 plate) so no idea if this has ever worked. I'll have a play later as would be a nice feature to have working.

@kreekeras far as I know it's the latest AA version, splitscreen option, version at bottom of screenshot below.

Beauty thanks mate. I'm running the same version so there goes that theory. Not sure the dealer will know but due for a service in a couple of months, will ask..

Weirdly (running same version) my AA Waze directions started showing in my HUD. No idea why and hope it continues to work 😀

  • 3 weeks later...

I don't have a HUD.

After using octavia for 1 year, I managed to see waze navigation directions in the virtual cockpit in only two trips. No idea how to enable or disable it.

@kreeker- ironically the satnav directions for both AA and the inbuilt infotainment system "magically" disappeared from the head up display on my car two weeks ago, and did not return.

I've ended up turning them off from the HUD via the internal menu. They were literally mirrored ie where straight through a round about, would display u turn. Or left when I should go right. Was more annoying than anything else. Just the sheer stupidity of it. I'll mention it to dealer when I take it on for a service but pretty sure they'll blame android auto...we'll see. It'll be in to the dealer in a couple of months

@kreeker, Can I ask how did you tweak the HUD directions from the internal menu? Can you please, give more details?
Really appreciate. Thx

It is weird / annoying that turns & exits from roundabouts don't work 'properly'. I still find it useful knowing that I have a turn coming up in x miles and can look at the infotainment unit when close to know which way to go.

I suspect Skoda will blame Android Auto which is weird as it works on many, many other cars 😉

I went into the vehicle menu, interior and HUD. Then disabled the directions. I'd rather have the directions but them being reversed was kinda annoying.
