VRS tsi - replace whole intake? Fault P2014

Featured Replies

First real costly problem has come up after 5 years of ownership!

i’ve had it scanned by garage and this fault has come up:

P2014 - Intake Manifold Position Sensor (Bank 1).

the EML is also intermittently on.

garage said its checked signals and electrical connection and fine. They’ve suggested needing whole new intake, with gaskets etc. all in with labour just less then £1k!

before I commit to this, has anyone else had this issue? Car has 130k and been faultless.

thank you

Yes. Try this instead.

Intake Manifold Position Sensor - Audi 8V/8S/B8.5/B9 & Volkswagen Golf MK7 GTI/R - EA888.3

PART NUMBER: 06K907386D

Had the exact same problem in my 2014 Octavia 3 with 84xxx kms

I snapped off the old sensor (and it is very easy to get to if you take off the oil filter) and put the new one in.

Cost me ~ $140 AUD

MK7 Golf Gti's have the same problem however the fix isn't as widely documented since they received intake manifold warranties for up to 10 years or 120k miles.

Diagram in here shows where to replace the sensor.

Couldn't find it but There was a reddit post I believe talking about this issues where the only comment told OP to buy the sensor and take off the old sensor (he said he snapped it off because it was hard to get out, I did this too.)

Super Easy Job, the commenter did it without taking the oil filter housing off and he must have spent ages and doing it but yeah.

Take oil filter out, snap the old sensor off, put in the new one, and Bob's you're uncle.

The new sensor is a little longer than the old one so it does seem to stick out a bit. Also remember to lightly lube the o-ring on the sensor, I just used engine oil.

Hope this helped!!!

just wanted to update this. I replaced the sensor as the above suggestion and so far the light has gone out and stayed out!

If this worked this has literally saved me around £900 and an unnecessary whole inlet manifold replacement.

thank you @evilsid

Its been nearly 3 months and no more error codes or rough cold start idles now.

I really with this was higher on the google search results because I had to go to my account to find this webpage.

Hi, looks like I have same issue. There is mention of needing to recode the sensor to the ECM? Is this the case or can I just swap a new sensor in and leave it at that??

No recode needed, just direct hardware swap. Nesrly a year one still no issues!

No need to recode anything, errors went away and never came back.

Thank you so much guys, just replaced my sensor (cost me £80).

Removed the oil filter cap to give a little more space for my hands, broke the top clip off and sensor then came away easily. Hardest bit was getting the electrical plug free - small grey clip slides to release but then a fair bit of effort and leverage to get plug away from sensor. Once all put back together no recoding attempted or required .

Four weeks later and the error has not come back!
