Skoda felicia 1.3 SPI Hall sensor / no signal

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am new at this forum, but i have been reading topics in here few months already.

I have a problem with my felicia 1.3 SPI. I can start the car, but the car shuts off almost as soon as I step on the throttle, so I can't drive the car at all.

I have tried to read fault codes with a VCDS-lite, but my cable may be poor quality, because i get problems with high latency (sometimes 20-40 ms) and VCDS tells me that it cant always connect to the controller.

When i am able to read the fault codes, i get code "00515 - camshaft position (hall) sensor (G40) 03-00 - no signal.

I have checked the wiring between ECU and hall sensor and it all seems to be fine. Also i have checked the wiring with voltage meter, and everything seems to be ok.

The car even was at a car repair shop, but they couldnt fix it! They checked the wirings too and cleared the fault codes and changed a new hall sensor, but the same problem still exists! They said that the problem could be in the ECU. I bought an used ECU from a wreck car and installed it in my felicia, but still the same problem and fault code exists!

Right now i really dont know what to do. Maybe i get an another new hall sensor, if the one was broken right away :D Or the ECU i bought has the same fault??

It is a shame, because my felly has only 36tkm on the meter! I bought it from a granny who kept the car years in a garage and drove it rarely.

Guys if you could help and give me some advice with this, i would love to drive my felly again!

That's a mistake, you can not know what problem that ECU has (burned, slight damaged, overpowered, moisture, pin corrosion etc).

Only a programmer must buy it since will get a six months warranty plus will make the fitting-adjustments etc.

I have lived that nightmare in the past, cheap used ECU bought by distance = trap.

Hall sensor you mean the Crank sensor, did you check beneath of it if there is an empty space on the flywheel?

Tomorrow i will post a photo from the pins of ECU,now it's late and i am on cellphone.

Hi, yes the crank sensor! i checked beneath the crank sensor, and the flywheel looked ok.

I checked the flywheel all around by pushing my car with 4th gear on.

The gap between crank sensor and flywheel was maybe 1,5mm. i need to measure it again if that gap sound too big.

I have opened the ECU once and it didnt look like it has been burned. Maybe i still should contact someone who is a professional ECU fixer/programmer, thanks for advice Fylaktos 👍🏼👍🏼

good thing is that the ecu wasnt too expensive, maybe thats one reason i "had" to try it 😁

That sounds more like Immobilizer arming - SPIs after MY96 had it and new ECU has to be paired with the immobiliser unit.

With faulty sensor, the engine wouldn't run at all.

When all these problems started, i was driving maybe 100kmh at the highway. The car just shut off and my trip ended there.

If this problem is about the immobiliser, can i check it somehow with vcds-lite? Are you sure that i my car has immobiliser?

Here is a photo of my ECU. Can you say with those part numbers, is there an immobiliser?

Also can i somehow "delete" the immobiliser if its necessary? 😃

And thanks already for your reply. 👍🏼👍🏼

Here was my previous used ECU.

The ECU is not a ''plug and play'' item, the programmer must make too many adjustments after fitting (among them is the immobilizer) fuel ratio etc plus a test on Dyno-road.

Yes the programmer can do it but this will turn the car back to previous decades which anyone could start the engine easily.

It's a Safety feature.

Looks like i dont have the immobiliser? This photo is about my original ECU, because i have those plastic parts at the corners?

Hi guys again! I havent got the felly fixed yet. Friend of mine told me that sometimes ecu can give fault code about crankshaft sensor, but really the problem is the camshaft sensor. Now comes the stupid question: can you guys tell me where the camshaft sensor is in skoda felicia 1.3 SPI? 😂

Hi, i have found that crankshaft sensor in the photo. But i was wondering where the CAMshaft sensor might be, or does Felicia even have one?

There's no camshaft sensor on the 1.3 engine.

Also, have you tried another sensor? I know you changed it once, but new doesn't necessarily mean good.

Thanks for the replies guys 👌

Yeah, maybe i should get another crank sensor. the first one was a bit high price because they ordered the sensor at the car repair shop and maybe i have thought that it has to work :D

Right now I am a bit confused about the immobilizer, do I have it or not.

Because the visual differences tells me that i dont have the immobilizer, but on the other hand the manufacturing date is telling me that i have the immobilizer in my car.

I ordered the Haynes manual for future needs, i hope maybe it will help me some how with this problem too.

I think I need to start searching for someone who can check my original ECU and maybe fix it, or tell me that its all good.

story to be continued..

I have it, it's not so good in informations and does not provide codes. For a Rookie is fine but for further things is not.

Just looked up the fault code - apparently, the BMM ECU shows the fault code everytime when engine is not running, as the sensor doesn't generate any signal. So the original ECU might be fine and the issue Is probably elsewhere.

00515 - Camshaft Position (Hall) Sensor (G40): No Signal

Possible Causes

Wiring to Camshaft Position (Hall) Sensor (G40) faulty
Camshaft Position (Hall) Sensor (G40) faulty

Possible Solutions

Check Wiring to Camshaft Position (Hall) Sensor (G40)
Check/Replace Camshaft Position (Hall) Sensor (G40)
Check/Replace Engine Control Module

Special Notes

Some older engines store this code as long as the engine is not running, if in doubt read fault codes with the engine running again.

Wiring?

Yeah.. i can tell that you are totally right. Now i feel really stupid, because i have been fighting with that code + trying to find functioning vcds. BUT also the mechanics at the repair shop didnt know how that fault code works 😂

Anyways, i have now checked more parts, i did get a new ignition coil, because the old one was cracked. Also i bought new temperature sensor. I changed the parts, started the car, but same problems occurs. But now i got a new fault code! 00516 - closed throttle idle position switch F60, 30-00 Open or short to plus.

Tomorrow i have to start figure out where this position switch F60 is 😃 i just hope that i am not breaking the car more while im trying to fix it, because i get new fault codes.

Hi,

I have this older throttle body on my felicia. I have these two parts attached in my TB. The first one have been replaced in the repair shop.

And maybe one stupid question once again, but should vcds work on my felicia?

or should i use the old vag-com?

In the second photo is your MAP sensor?

Both have worked (in mine), old mechanic will had old equipment, new mechanic means laptop.

The second photos part number is 0132008600. It is some kind of electric idle adjust motor.
