Vibrations/pulsing on brakes

Featured Replies

OK, so I'm getting a sort of pulsing under braking from the brake pedal. But sometimes it's a full on vibration of the brake pedal and steering wheel. Sometimes on brakes it pulls left, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes under hard braking the pedal drops further than normal, related?

Warped discs maybe? Think the fronts might be binding a little. I have a cv boot that's in 3 pieces, could the cv be doing this?

I also feel the steering is slightly heavier than I think it should be, might be nothing to do with this fault unless maybe is Bush related.

Anyway if anyone has experienced this and can suggest anything it would be real useful. Cheers legends.

First thing to check is that there is not a rusty lip at the outer edge the discs, What happens with this is that it can be all shapes and not flat like a disc surface so you get intermittent contact with the pad. If it is there, tapping with a hammer. even better a cold chisel will break this off. A grinding disc will do the same. Binding will not help as this can warp a disc due to heat generation, or even boil the brake fluid which may explain occasional longer travel especially if you are driving the car hard.

based on the vibrations etc and you stating your cv boot is ruined i would be looking toward your cv would expect there is no greasse left in itso worn and causing the vibrations which can be indicative of a bad cv.

Thanks guys, I will check the brake discs and maybe even replace them. Potentially reseal the calipers and I'm for sure changing the cv ASAP, hopefully this weekend. Hopefully it all come apart. If no change I'll be back for more haha cheers 👍
