Over the Air Updates

Featured Replies

Am I missing something? Lots of members refer to over the air updates. I have never been notified of one for my car. Is there a way to receive them?

Hello,

First of all, you need to have paid for the online Skoda connect services. These come  bundled with the Columbus unit (for one year at least) or as a separate add-on  option for the Bolero unit. The annual subscription is around 30 EUR

It's always been free for me. Never paid for anything and otas come through. Maybe it's country specific?

I have the connect services but nothing ever comes through. I have see others in the uk on the forum saying that they have had updates. Does anyone know the procedure for accessing them please?

That only applies for the navigation updates. You still get bug fixes and system updates without a subscription.

Had several sets of updates, can't tell you what they are as they're always obscured by something else on the screen, touch the screen and it very conveniently varnishes!

The details they show are more or less relevant... Sometimes they just say "error fixes", other times you get more info.
The pictures below are taken when the "update of death" arrived - the one that brought infotainment reboots at the start of the car (22nd of April)

The worst thing ever is buying the car in Australia. The Skoda's here don't come with esim functionality, so there is no way of updating the software other than to visit a dealer.

I happily supply the files needed to do the updates at home.

So there is always another way 😉

Oh wow, is there risk in doing this? Would it void the warranty?

If your car is under warranty, then if you have issues, best to use dealer.

Once out of warranty, you are good to go.

And in 99.99% of installs, all goes well.

Like seen in some of the images above, if you press and hold menu button, sniff about in there until you can see what appears to be a "Software Train"

Examples:

MOI3_EU_SK_R8960L

MOI3_EU_SKMQB_P30400P

Cost: Free, apart from time

You should be able to make the leap up to 1941 then.
